I am going to a tubular K in my "65 Dart. Can I get regular A body 1 7/8 headers to fit? I also do not use the inner fenderwells.

The question is will it work. Are the frame rails the problem? Shock towers? I need some advice to strike a deal on a new set of W2 headers that are dirt cheap.

The pass side ought to fit if the suspension upper location is a bit further outboard. The other side I am not sure. A lot of early As only have one side (drivers) notched for exhaust at the cross member. You might have to modify the other side or get creative. If they are a deal, why not go for it, and if it doesn't work out, resell them!

I tried this and the tubes touch the inner fender well as they curve downward as they leave the head on the passenger side.. The drivers side worked once I cut out one tube that hit the steering box and rerouted it and trimmed back the steering column. I had to put the engine on 5/16 plate on the motor mounts to raise the motor to clear the steering gear. I did this when I couldn't find any headers for the early A. This was also in a stock K frame car. (66 Canadian Valiant with a 340)

I'm sure the headers were 1 3/4 tube size, and were $99 Coyotey headers with the 3 tubes that hang low on the drivers side.
