Has everyone noticed that our little cars are finally getting some decent press from the magazines? It has been slowly rising over that past several years but it seems this year it has hit hard. I have sevral mags from this year that have featured some Darts and Dusters. I think its awsome, these cars have always deserved the spot light in my opinion. I mean really these were the cars that everyone could afford to build and play with. Anyhow just an observation.

Yeah but....
Now every a body owner out there thinks the beater they have in the back yard is worth BIG BUCKS. The 500.00 deals are all but gone at this point.....:(

Not sure about the States but in Canada, Ottawa greenlights $92M program to clear old cars from road.

"Time too keep ears and eyes open....so some good projects don't slip away into the wrong hands"!

The federal government has announced a long-delayed program to give drivers incentives get older, polluting vehicles off the roads.

Environment Minister said the government will give the Clean Air Foundation $92 million over four years to run a national vehicle "scrappage" program.

The program will offer incentives including rebates on new vehicles, free transit passes, bicycles, membership in ride-sharing programs and $300 cash.

The rusty clunkers will then be turned over to scrapyards to crush and recycle, according to provincial guidelines.

Vehicles produced before the 1996 model year will qualify for the Clean Air Foundation-run Car Heaven program.

Car Heaven was largely funded by General Motors and Imperial Oil, and it offered $750 toward a new GM vehicle to drivers who sent their cars and trucks to the scrapyard.

Sad but true..... I hope to snap up another a-body in the next year or so, but with the way car prices (and everything else) are going, it'll likely be the last mopar I ever be able to afford.

i would rather our a-bodies fly under the radar but i guess there are only so many ways to do an e or b body and the magazine coverage is getting really boring on those cars so they moved to a-bodies. gonna be price me right out of the hobby soon.

We have a similar program in California. I was sent a letter for each of my A-bodies. I think the offer was somewhere between $150-$350. I fell off my chair because I was laughing so hard. At least it was worth a good laugh.

Id Tell Them Right Where To Shove That 300.00 Then If They Tried To Force It On Me Id Piss On The Check! I Have Sooo Much Damn Money Wrapped Up In This Thing And It Doesnt Even Look Good Yet!

The $500 deals are still out there more than you think.

My buddy gets these deals all the time because everyone in the mopar world here knows him.
He just picked up a big block 68 coronet for $500., not to mention a rough, but fixable 70 challenger for free.

Should I keep going down the list?

Do I like the increased exposure, YES. Now people don't ask me about my "Chevy II" when I am driving my buddies 69 Valiant.
Do I believe that the exposure can send the price through the roof....YES...think Barrett Jackson. Once they got on the Mopar bandwagon, prices for cars went nuts, and then parts followed on ebay too. There are links to ebay all the time to guys who want $1,200 for a 69 Valiant grille, or 1.2 billion for a one year only 340 flux capacitor.

I like the fact that people notice my A body when I am driving it, but I do not like that I had to pay more then I believe I should have because of the exposure.

I'm a "Craigslust" addict. 1500.00-2000.00 will get you a decent a - body to start with, albeit more than likely a slant sixer or no - drivetrain car. What torques my jaw is the price of 8 3/4 rears and some of the other items that need to be purchased eventually. I'm trying to find a project that already has an 8 3/4 and decent interior/body, that's a little tougher.

Yup!

And now the press has got thier nose in it,prices are gonna escalate again.

But no matter how expensive it gets to restore my A body,no one else will ever get it intact! I'll burn it first...

Some government types will disappear before they confiscate my old cars.
