I'm at work and there is only one hour left before I hit the deer woods for two weeks. Obviously not much will get done on the Demon in this time period. But hunting is my first love as far as hobbies go.
I may pop in the odd day to see what is happening, but I'm not counting on it. I also will be turning 50 during this time. I don't know if I will ever sober up from that. LOL
If I don't make it to the puter for a couple of weeks, see you when I get back.

have a good time and drink some cold ones for me.. the rut hasnt started here yet, has yours? where bouts you shootin??

Happy prebirfday wishes jack!

The rut hasn't really started here either. The bucks have just started making scrapes. They should get into full swing this coming week (Weds)?
I'm on the opposite coast from you Cerwin, southern New Brunswick. I mainly hunt travelways. My first day out I saw 5 deer. 3 does, a fawn and one I couldn't identify. Only saw the back end of it.

Good luck hunting Jack! Hope you score good. And as for the big FIVE-OH I have that occasion coming up in about 18 months myself.... congrats! :thumleft:

I'm heading to the camp in about oh..... 10 minutes. I'm stayin for the week. Just my brother and my dad, but we always seem to get 2 or 3 every year. I got my first 3 years ago, a 10 pointer. What a nice one to get as your first. Wish everyone the best.

Thanks! My dad and i both got some nice spike horns monday morning! The best part is I was using my grampa's 12 g that I got when he died (of a brain tumor). That means the world to me as I thought very highly of him and got to use one of his guns to get a deer opening morning. Did anyone else get anything?

Well, I made it back from deer camp. The weather was the wosrt I have ever seen. Rain, rain and more rain. Warm, warm, and more warm. There were days we couldn't even get to our stands because of water. The other 2 guys got a 6 pointer and a 7 pointer. Nothing for me though. We had a great time despite the weather. Everybody got back safe and we have some venison to share.

OldVart, How did your search for Bullwinkle go?

moparfreak77, That is great!! Congrat's!!

Glad you got back safe and sound. To bad the weather didnt go better but sometimes you have to work for it! :) We are getting a local guy to make up some venison sausage again this year. It's awesome, you can cut it up like lil timbits and put it in front of your friends and it won't last long. Does anyone ever get anything made up like this? mmmmmm venison

I find the sausage a little on the dry side. I bottle a good part of mine in the pressure cooker. Add some salt, a few spices in small amounts and it sure is good. It lasts a long time that way.

Full rut in SEKansas and the damned things are as thick as hair on a dog's back. My wife and I try to stay off the roads at night from Nov. to Jan., too many deer crossing.

Did hear a man in Sarcoxie MO shot a 28 point !!DOE!! Now how rare is that?

Jack, I went about 2 miles from the house on Saturday morning, spotted a cow, then flushed a good sized bull out into the open. Up rifle, aim, something doesn't feel right......look around and I have an audience of 4 pick-me-up trucks stopped all around me and Bullwinkle. I was so pissed off I got in the Jeep and drove back home. :tool:
Last week I couldn't make it out but I'll be out bright and early Saturday morning. On my way to town last night about 4:45 PM there was a nice bull about 200 yards off the road a mile from my place but I didn't have the fire stick with me. :) He'll wait until Saturday, I'm sure.

A 28 point DOE! I have never heard of one with that many points. I have seen pics of fork horn or 6 point doe's but never anything close to that.

Nobody likes an audience OldVart. He will be there.
