Well there is t a door where the fuel fill usually is.ybe he has a fuel cell mounted up there.

I once bought a '64 Valiant that head been sitting and had so much sediment in the fuel tank that it would clog the filter. To get it home I put a 5 gallon metal tank, with petcock/hose barb in the front passenger floor area and ran a fuel line through the firewall to the fuel pump. It must have looked weird to be opening the car door and pumping gas....
