A855 - 5 Speed

-
Isn't the Richmond 5 speed non-OD?
the 4+1 is not and OD box. 5th is 1:1 and 1st is very deep (or can be-- they range from 2.22 to 3.76)

the one i did was 3.19 and i ran a 2.76 rear gear

*there is some combo of gearing that nets you a .86 or something 4th and still retains the 1:1 5th though.

I've had three of these units... the first(early production) I had the infamous pop out problems.... Seth and GFI swapped me units, and the second unit was just fine. I have recently bought another one in the latest design batch and I'll have it installed soon. I will say I do check and correct bellhousing runout to make sure that's not an issue on my installs. I have spoken with just Seth just this week and they do have most serviced parts available on the shelf. Not all the units were "junk" as some have stated. There have been a lot of problems, but I feel the trans is worth it to be a direct bolt in in....They will take a beating I assure you. Hope this helps.
How do you identify if it is early or latest design? Did anyone offer any insight as to what the change was that corrected the pop out issue in the latest design?

That’s great news! I bought one going on 7-8 years ago, that I haven’t installed. Good to know, if I do have issues, I know who to contact for service.

So...lots of effort for little to no gain.

2 different forums, 2 different members, same singular post and run, I'll paraphrase:

A855, problems?
No! Only reason production stopped was the rapidly increasing cost of manufacturing.
Yes! 80% of 5 gears work, 95% of the time!

A855 dead?
No! Latest design batch.
Yes! Non-existent website & phone#.
