AdamR is OK?

I actually like Peavy bass stuff and I think I played a dive on Long Island that had that same PA head.

Tubes are the way, can't get the same tone with transistors.

My uncle has about every fender combo and head/cab they made in the 60's, bassmans, band master, tremelos, vibrolux, super vibro, super reverb, champ, pro, silver face, black face, tweed etc.....

Then there's the matchless stuff.

While I agree that tube amps are the best sounding.... there are negatives:

1) Price $1000+ (new).
2) Tubes can break (often) during transport.
3) The amps are heavier and if you're playing out often it can be an issue after hauling all of the PA gear.
4) You'll need a good microphone ($200+) to reproduce the tube sound correctly through the PA.

My 2 cents.
