Aluminum heads

I never hear anyone mention the Maxwedge dual plane from Indy (2D?) as a viable option.

what are the thoughts on this ?
I’ve never tested one with the port exits left at the std opening size, which is how they come as cast (and run on std port heads), but they work pretty well at MW size on heads with MW sized ports.

I have one and compared to a Victor it's a much better intake if you need or want more runner volume.

The Indy intake as cast does not have as large of port openings as a Max Wedge gasket which worked out well on my really high ported 452 heads, as the roof on my heads were

.005" taller than the intake port height. Width wise the ports on the intake are a little wider than the ported heads are.

However if you have a stock size head ports this intake is not going to work for most guys.

Only downside to the Indy 440-2 is the price of admission at $895.

The last thing you need on 500”+ is a two plane intake when they make 500 ft lbs of torque almost instantly with a single plane…

The intake that was under appreciated until production was over is the MP 337, which was a fairly low profile, small-ish runner size, RB MW 4150 style single plane.

Works good on strokers with decent heads utilizing MW ports, that want to keep things under the hood.

I've heard alot of people ranting about that intake ...and the interweb is littered with people looking for them it seems, I wonder if 440 source should do a clone casting.

I think there is a market for something like that.

One suggestion I’d make would be to make it with the angled carb pad(so the carb sits level with the engine in a std chassis).
It’s going to be something more for the stroker hot street car guys imo.

Porter Racing Heads , in conjunction with 440 source presents::::

How high did they take it,
My memory was accurate they only ran it to 6000. I had to call and ask because I didn’t end up going over there yesterday. I can’t however give you the numbers after peak as neither one of us could remember. If I remember, and if I get back over there soon I’ll ask him to pull up the graph.

Hey this was the question but then I guess you don’t need a gun to steel a thread!
Op hasn’t been back since he posted the question so we had to keep the conversation alive. “Talk amongst yourselves now”.

Where did I leave that 10mm socket? Is it in here somewhere?

I am about to buy some aluminum heads for a base block of 400, any suggestions, or a wish I did this rather than that type input. First set of aluminum heads and first big block build
I used Pro Max for my 435 build on the DYNO it made 555 hp 574 foot pounds of torque

And add a 470 or 500 stroker kit for the 400 with some out of the box TF 240’s.

Then, could even run RPM or mild single plane intake with 230 @050 cam 110 separation and have super streetable 500+ hp. That will blow off nearly every street tire on the street in an A-body
Thos is what I am doing, starting with 400 making into a 500 stroker, factory 4 speed for now

Typically, the head choice is dictated by the budget and power goals.

When those are on the same page, you’re golden.

When the goals are bigger than the budget, that’s when it can get tricky.
