American manufacturing companies that are still here

Yeah you might spend 53% of your income on taxes but your home prices are still RISING, not FALLING.

The average home price continues to fall nationally.

You get more benefits, I gotta pay $95 each time to see my doctor and that is before costs of tests, meds, etc.

Have you ever looked at what it costs to see an auto mechanic, plumber, electrician, etc?

The value of your dollar is going up not down. Your wages have not been cut by 30--40% or more.

The value of the US dollar is declining due to inflation.

Its a smokescreen the US low tax rates.

Average combined federal, state, and local taxes are over 50% for most Americans.

My home is worth 40% less than 5 years ago--and that is above many other places. 5 years ago $80 US got me $100 Canadian, now $100 costs me around $110 after fees.

I should have sold everything and moved to Toronto back in 2000, believe me I kick myself in the butt for not doing so. Now I am stuck in the USA--guess its better than being stuck in Iraq, lol

Canada economy is doing far better than the USA.

Canada GDP dropped 0.1% from 1st to 2nd quarter 2011. Canada GDP in 2010 was $1.574 trillion (US); USA GDP in 2010 was $14.4 trillion (US). How much does Canada pay for defense?

Its more social also. Have a kid you get $100 each month to help raise the child,

That $100/month comes out of somebody else's pocket.

you get subsides daycare,

It comes out of someone else's pocket.

you get free health care.

It comes out of someone else's pocket.

So its not all the D's fault. Canada does try more to keep it jobs in Canada, it has more regulations on its banking.

73% of Canada's exports are to the USA. What would Canada's economy look like if tariffs were put in place and free trade deals were cancelled?

I thought Obama would look to Canada as a role model but no, when it came to taxes, wars he was right with the R's.

Democrats got us into WW I, WW II, Korean War, and Vietnam War - care to compare records? If we took Canada as a role model, we would have no Defense Department. Who keeps sea lanes open? USA. Who provides the world with weather satellite information? Canada? Oops, no, USA. Who gives the most in aid to starving people and disasters around the world? USA. Who supports the economies of failing socialist states? USA.

I'm not sure what is the right answer, America needs a war on poverty rather than a war on terror.

We have spent trillions of dollars in the "War on Poverty" since the 1960s. The "poverty rate" is exactly the same as it was in the 1960s. Only in the USA would somebody be listed as being poor own a big screen TV, telephone, car, free food, rent assistance, pay 0% taxes, etc. Sometimes human nature is the defining factor.

All those billions wasted overseas where here in the homeland so many folks are hurting. NASA and their 8 billion Web telescope that is years past due. We got little to no public transportation but we can shoot off the scape shuttle every so often, for what ? Just to line the pockets of companies like 3M.

What is the Web telescope? Maybe we should use the weather satellites for ourselves and not warn the world of impending hurricanes. Same thing goes for our tsumani warning system.

Do you see Canada shooting off billion dollar rockets, heck no, they spend their money on things that help everybody and their economy.

Canada could not defend itself from an invasion by Somalia.

I hope the tide changes soon and things start look up but its scary to think that maybe the worst is still to come.

It's the government's fault taxing all the manufacturing plants in the U.S. and letting all the other countries have free trade. They promote manufacturing in other countries. It comes down to money it's all about the money always has been always will!

Fn tragedy.

I'm with moparkid.

Start moving towards isolationist. Keep the circle tight. Produce here, sell here, get the resources here. Tax all imports until there are no imports. Put a period on that! The US will take up the slack and supply and demand will take its course with US product and consumption.

Build a moat around the southern boarder and fill it with kerosene. Light it on fire.

The only problem I have with seeing "Made In USA" these days :
How many of these U.S. employees are in the U.S. legally????

Raw materials come from China , too . How many steel mills and or foundries has one encountered lately ?

Don't get me started on unions ...

Once all of the bullshit regulations are either dropped or fine tuned into reality , then we can start rebuilding "our" country .

I am curious. What raw materials are coming from China?

It is my understanding they are by far the biggest consumer world wide of raw materials, but I wasn't aware of them having any raw materials to export.

Bauxite, coke, fluorspar, magnesium, manganese, silicon, and zinc. China is presently in a rhubarb with the WTO because they have imposed export duties on these materials to control the price on the international market. We will wait and see.

All of those cars that end-up in the crusher are loaded on ships destined for good ol' China .

Nothing quite like unwillingly supporting the efforts of a capitalist-communist country , right ?
" 'Peoples' Republic " ... sure !:mumum:
