Drug home ANOTHER BOAT. I was going to stay OUT of glas boats, but this showed up. 63 Glaspar 16'. Has a 56 Johnson 10 and an 80 Johnson 25, which I want to end up on my little 12' aluminum Crestliner. It's long shaft, and I'm hoping I might even have a short driveshaft that will work. I can shorten the water tubes and the shifter shaft, if I can find that.

This is a "small" 16' Glaspar, Not all that wide nor deep and it's actually closer to 15 than 16. It has no sub floor--was built that way. Even tho it's some faded, it's in pretty decent condition, no delamination or bruises.

The 25hp is supposed to run, and I did get a few hits out of it late yesterday on ether. It is worth the money largely for the 25hp

The depth finder, LOL is the prototype for the Ark

The trip home turned out to be ...........interesting....... This was several miles Nw of Newport, WA, and back to Coeur d Alene. The owner had said something about towing it, and one dust cover was gone, but the bearing still looked greasy. So when I got in and through Newport, a little S and a wide spot, I stopped and checked it. It was already warm, and THAT is when I discovered that it was LOOSE. The needles were pretty much gone. So I drove about 45 all the way home with a wary eye on the mirror, both for problems AND to pull over and allow folks to pass. I stopped about 4 more times and using some rags, and jacked up at a tilt, poured some of the only lube into it that I had on the truck---Rotella LOLOL

About 52 miles on a dead wheel bearing and Rotella. I could grab it but it WAS warm and I would not want to have held on very long. Never got hot enough to "smoke"

Very cool find
I have a twin 15 Johnson short shat I do believe, thats going to be a fun 16ft boat, I bet its had some fast fun times on the water.
Congratulations

Yep, my hood on the 15hp I have looks just like your 10hp. I have that as well, don't know what I will do with it, thought about a mail box

Mail box, as well. But we have several boxes on a common mount, and I'd have to completely rebuild the whole thing to do that.

Too bad this thing is clear across the country. I don't know if I'll keep it, or not. I'm interested in seeing how it rides. I may put the 73-ish 'Rude 50 twin on there, as it's also a long shaft, and see how it does. I've actually been thinking of adding spray rails to mine either under the bow area gunnels or the side strakes.

I just read part of an article last night about all the nonsense with the development of WWII PT boats. A couple of the designs nearly pounded themselves to death, and didn't do the crew any good, either

But it's a nice day today, and right now (11AM) I'm loading up the 58 Crestliner with the 35hp and going for a ride and lunch

Mikie wants to see your 58 Crestline!! I have a 57 Feather Craft aluminum

Hang on, I will be there in 15 minutes for a ride along :steering:

I had a 57 this one is 58 or 59, nobody seems sure. What I didn't like about the 57 and why I sold it and bought this: The 57 had a rear seat permanently riveted into the hull bottom, which made engine access for an old man a real pain. Also The stern well was MUCH shorter (remember, the big V4 OMCs came out in 58, the "fat 50, later 75hp,etc) The small well was also a problem with the 58 16' "Flying Crest" I had for a short time, but it was just TOO big and heavy. It was a REALLY deep, wide, big boat.

So this boat does not have all the gunnel trim the 57 had, it has a flat floor which gives room for floatation, and it does not have the side seat/ bins which for me (and my back) were just a pain.

The gas cans LOLOL. This was one of the first rides one spring, and I had acquired a number of cans with some fuel in them. I intended, on this outing, to make certain they all fed correctly, and that the fuel seemed OK.

I am very certain this is my old 57, which someone "restored." It still does not have a windshield, which is REALLY needed to finish the trim package up top. He, however, did put floors back in it which I never had

This was the 57 15' Voyager when I first got it, testing for leaks. Someone had done a sloppy not very smooth paint job. The hull bottom was not bad, but the upper hull was almost like bedliner, and the inside was horrid, and someone had decided to cut the center out of the windshield

Dang Del, how many boats do you have now? I thought your lot was only "SO" big. lol

This makes 3. Probably what I'd like to do is stick a big one on there and see how it rides in comparison to the aluminum old Crestliner. I doubt I'll keep it.

Well, 'ell. Off again on a rant this morning. For the lofty sum of 75 + 100 bucks I dragged home what is claimed to be a '23 Johnson twin (Have to see if I can find the model no.) It turns over and has compression

And, a Johnny rude 28 and 25. Unfortunately BOTH are long shaft, just like the one I got off the boat above. Evinrude is an 89 model, and Johnson 28 is a 88 model. Both seem to have decent compression (have not done anything with them yet.

Also got two sets of remotes, but they are both the incredibly annoying single lever models.

i've got our family boat after my pop passed , a 1962 dorest 16 plus deep hull with a brand new rebuilt 75 hp jonhson on it . and there is my mom n pop enjoying boating on the lake a number of years ago........

Well turns out it might not be the year I thought. After I got the flywheel off, which has oddball screws holding the rope pulley, 10-28 or something, I tapped them out to 1/4 USS to get the puller engaged, and then will ream and re-countersink the pulley so I can use 1/4 flathad screws.

But the serial on the rope pulley is WAY earlier than that on the flywheel and mag plate below, A38005, which still indicates a "model A" (2 hp) but about a '26 model year.

The thing is in pretty fair condition, and has some compression. But here is another interesting twist. IT DOES NOT FIRE like a twin. Both pistons come to TDC together, and there is only one set of points and a dual wire coil, so it fires like a single, not a twin.

Next o'course, is getting it on the mag ignition tester, and see what the coil/ condenser and points look like

Will I got the little thing running for a couple minutes today. But the water pump does not seem to be working (piston pump) and I have to research what to do about the gearbox. Not sure for sure what is the fill plug and how much it needs, or if it has a bleeder plug to aid filling. BUT IT DOES RUN!!!

Just split this one in half to replace transom and stringers. 1970 StarCraft Arrow 14’ runabout. Hanging off the back is a 1962 Johnson Sea horse 40 that I short shafted a few years ago.
After the glass work I will be doing a full gel coat of the orginal light yellow top and rust colored bottom. The rust oleum white is too bright on sunny days. I’m going to try tinted truck bed liner for the floor coating. That should keep her around for the next 50 years.

Very good!! I THINK I can convert one of these new motors to short shaft with only the driveshaft. I believe I can shorten the shifter shaft, as well as the water tubes, If I can come up with the proper driveshaft. I surely don't want to try shortening that thing.

honestly parts are allways available on eBay. I bought factory parts manuals and with those numbers you can find it almost anywhere. I’m amazed the parts still available for that thing. I took the remote shifter apart and found a few broken parts. A few numbers later thanks to the forum iboats.com. And plenty of info on there.
Look me up- Luckday.
