I went out to the shop yesterday morning about 9:45 like I always do. First thing I did (after unloading the powder gun, powders, and my coffee) was to grab the little temp gauge I use to measure oven temperatures. It was 37.4 degrees in the shop and 31.2 outside in the sun.

I hit the breaker and fired up the Dayton heater. I blew a kiss towards the house for my beloved who had the foresight to put the winning bid on it on ebay a couple weeks ago. "You're gonna be out there a lot more this year. You're gonna need a heater babe." Uh huhhhhhhhhhhh. Thank you Billy!!!

By noon thirty my feet were cold. Went in the house to get rid of the customary tennis shoes and put on my hiking boots with the 3/4" Vibram soles. Figured any extra room between me and that cold-a$$ concrete was a good thing. I made another half a pot of coffee.

At 4:00 I came in and had my first cup of hot chocolate of the season. A double. I also put on those extremely sexy insulated long underwear that have been in my drawer for a hundred years (had to cut the tag off LOL).

I finished up work for the day at 7:00 p.m. When I checked the temp gauge again just outside the shop door, it was 17 DEGREES.

This morning when I went outside to feed the kitties, there was a half inch of solid ice in their water bowl and a good 3/8" inside the jug that sits on top of the dispenser.

Oh man ... I'm sooooooooo ready for spring. Living in SoCal for 16 years and then three more in South Louisiana spoiled me rotten.

Hell Leanna that's swimmin hole weather up here in Canada LOL
I know what you mean, I was out for a while yesterday starting to put Christmas lights up and it was sort of that damp cold, went straight to my bones, had to come inside and abuse my medication. I think it is because I am an old fart now. Going to go start cutting up some veggies to make a big old pot of soup. Come on spring......

Count your blessings. This could be your life: :-D This was November or thereabouts in Colorado two years ago.

I feel for ya Leanna. I moved to Miami years ago and lived there for 3 years and kind of got spoiled. I still love the winters here in Ohio, just seems that as I get older I like them for a shorter and shorter period of time. No kids yesterday so after I did my running around MeMike twisted my arm and I took the 4x4 out in the field behind the house and played a little 8) 7" or so of fresh snow and the drifts I had a blast! But I know that as soon as the new year hits Ill be ready for winter to be over and getting spring fever already!

Hey Joe, don't forget I lived in Colorado for 10 years before moving to California. I remember VERY WELL what Maxi was "enjoying" in the back yard.

And I don't miss it ONE BIT. LOL!

I hear you leanna woke up to 2 or 3 inches here this morning and where we were supposed to go today they were expecting 10 to 12 inches and high winds so i staying put. Wonder how i will make out in the snow with the cane?

And just for you Leanna i'll now post the bright side to all of this. Germs can't live in that kind of weather. I know your feeling better now aren't ya.. I just love to help. 50's next week. More germs.....

I know how you feel. I took this picture this morning. I grew up in sunny Florida, now in the mountains of WNC....Dean

Fight a house fire at -29f and you will soon figure out why I moved to Florida in March of 1978.

Just past 2:30PM on Saturday and 77 here in north Orange County (SoCal) but at least it's not burning down all around us like it was last Saturday!
Now they're warning the residents of the fire areas about possible mudslides if we get the rain that's forecast after Thanksgiving.
The price you gotta pay to live here.
