I don't know if Lenny is still there, IIRC he sold Ultimate a few years ago.

I have a shelf 904 hughes 3500 converter that is flat out awesome. Had a car go 1.43's with a SB and 4.56's.

Getting it right is a big deal. Single most important driveline item in a car IMO. Guys spend 10K on an engine, then back it up with a $200 converter and can't figure out why the car is a dog.

2300 stall, put a stock converter in it, same deal...

I don't know where you are at in Ohio but call Perfect Converter Co. and talk to Bubba. Go a google search for the company phone number or PM me and I'll give his cell number to you. He will ask lots of questions so give him all the info you can on your car and he will build a converter to your needs. Nothing off the shelf will be the same. Something around a 3500 loose most likely would be a good guess. If your close stop by the shop and talk to him. Plus it will save you shipping.

Is he in prison? LOL

If I had your car, with your setup, I would use a 10" Turbo Action street S-800 3500 "tight" converter, as I have used it before and it works well for a street driven car. If you want a little more stall out of it you could use the 10" "medium", but you will get a bit more slippage. I don't think that I would run anything smaller than a 10" converter for a street driven car, unless it was going to be more of a drag car than a street car, or some really small cube engine.

Filled out the request overnight for Coan first thing this morning got a reply. This surprised me with the way companies are this day and age. They stated a custom converter with a tight stall of 3000-3200 would work well with my combination.

I know roccodart440 rates them high, has anyone else used their products?

If you don't mind me asking, what is the price for one? I have heard that they are a great company.

$850, I am sure that does not include shipping.
I would go a little bit more than what they recommend, but you may feel uncomfortbale with that. I look at the camshaft's duration. That camshaft you have will be pouring it on in the 3500-3800 range. I think that would be all over it. Even still, what they recommended is way better than a 2400.

I think that's a good price if you look at what off the shelf ones cost and your getting a far superior converter.
Considering there are converters out there that cost 5K plus, it's a good deal.

I agree the OP could run a little higher if he was being greedy! Originally with my stroker I was running an Isky 280 Mega w/3.73 gear, a dual plane with similar weight as the OP. Lenny at Ultimate spec’d me a 3800-4000” 9.5” tight. I was quoted iirc $950 (late 2017) which was the real deal killer. Just couldn’t do it. Something in the $600-$800 range is easily doable still these days from what I’ve seen.

I have an 8" Coan behind my 434, it works very well, great folks to work with too. When I was calling around shopping for converters Coan asked more questions about my car and what I was doing with it, then made their suggestion.

As mild as the OP's combo is I don't think 3000-3200 is out of line, he could always ask if they can make it 33-3500. I'd call and talk with them about it.

If you do call Coan ask for Craig M (sorry don't know his last name). He's a Mopar guy and helped me a few times.

I put in all the information on their web page and wrote a summary as to how i am using the car. The car really starts to pull hard about 3000 so i would think that it would be about right.

I'd still call, maybe it's just me, but I prefer to speak to a person. It has weeded out some bullshitters in the past.

Ya,I went on to the Ultimate site looks like Lenny sold back in 2019 man he built my 3800 stall back in 2016 cost then was only $500 still performing great!!

I put a stock 340 727 converter in my 440 roadrunner, because I knew the car it came from, straight out of his into mine . I was very pleased with the way it worked.
However! I would recommend a quality custom converter from one of the Mopar specialist shops.(Ultimate, A&A, Cope, PTC, others also). As 12many said, NO Tci (total crap inside) no boss hog (second coming of the WORST hi performance part I have ever bought, a GER), No off the shelf B&M.

Do not buy anything less then a 3500 loose. If it were me I would buy a 4500 tight. factory 340 cars came with a 3000+ same converter as a Hemi or any HP Big block. 340 cars flash stalled at 2800-3200. Hemis and HP big blocks with the same converter 3000-3400
Sir could you please explaine what the terms loose/tight and flash mean I think I have an idea but just want to make sure....thanks
