Here we go again. Another one for you guys that keep these records. Fire away.

I don't know. At this point with so many crushed after 40 years, it seems more realistic to save this stuff. A drag only duster could be converted back to the street. Who's this really hurting? It's not a hemi car, etc....

Selling Titles ? whats up with this, heck I have a few myself, but the cars and trucks are long gone and turned into metal studs by now .

Reported....its a felony to sell a title.

Thank you Keith, I guess I need to empty out my fire safe of the old ones I have and watch them burn :glasses7: Hoarding is a sickness :-D

I'm with ya Mike! I've got a stack of them that have been gone for 10-20 years!!!

It seems to me that what is for sale in breaking the law in so many ways that it's not fun besides what happens when the car that paper work is put on turn out to be stolen.

This kind of crap only hurts the ones that are legit. Now if you don't have build sheets trim tags, the car is immediately presumed to be "stolen".

Who would want the title and tags to a 74 318 gold duster???

Not trying to start a war here nor do I need this particular title. I couldn't pull it up as it had already been deleted. How much was the seller asking? Just curious.
Over the years I have bought several cars without titles that didn't come back as stolen.
The titles were just lost by the owner or the owner was no longer amongst the living.
I was able to buy the cars well below reasonable cost and was a way to start a project I wouldn't normally be able to afford by spending a little at a time.
Sometimes I would buy a similar parts car in worse condition for parts and the paperwork to get my car registered and usable. Never had a problem doing it this way. In indiana the officer will come to where your car is and copy the #s off the tag onto the required form and its ready to go into your name at the license branch. This is only required with a out of state vehicle. Otherwise they don't care enough to even look at it.
Other cars I have bought didn't even have readable #s left on them. I currently have a 1928 model A ford that sat in a field for over 50 years. No living owner or title. Just a bill of sale from seller. I am having a lot of fun building this car back up from the dead.I will probably purchase a title for this if I can find one.
I suppose my point is I believe it is a waste to scrap all cars that no longer have a title to go with the sale. Doesn't mean its stolen.
This practice may offend some but it doesn't really matter to me as I don't feel I have wronged anyone, just saved and got some use from cars their was little hope for.
If you have ever tried to go to the license branch to get a car registered in your name without a title you would likely see the need to skip the red tape and buy a title or possibly
understand why people would go this route. That's who would want a 318 or other seemingly valueless tag or title. They are not trying to hurt you or the hobby. They just want
to drive their car. Its good to see some folks who see this and make them available for those who can use it.
You can fire away with your its illegal all you want. I am 50 years old and been building others castaways for 35 years. I am pleased that they don't care enough to get involved.
The way it should be. We lose more and more freedoms everyday in this politically correct age that seems so unnecessary to me. Let it be.

"I currently have a 1928 model A ford that sat in a field for over 50 years. No living owner or title. Just a bill of sale from seller." Who may or may not have been the rightful owner.

"If you have ever tried to go to the license branch to get a car registered in your name without a title you would likely see the need to skip the red tape and buy a title or possibly" But that is the right thing to do, the DMV red tape route takes out the possibility of registering a stolen vehicle under the paper which could be held together with paper clips made from it.

Owners of cars die and titles to old cars get lost. Not uncommon at all.
That is why you see all these ad's. It is not always possible to get the rightful owner to get the title for you.
The last 5 cars I bought didn't come with titles. Again i say Bought not stole. Got a bill of sale. None of them came back as stolen when checked. There is no way this is doing any harm to anyone in the hobby.
It is nothing more than getting the most out of what is left out there to choose from.
When you buy a car that needs a engine you replace it. Without it the car wouldn't be
worth owning. When you buy a car without a title you replace it, no different. I truly don't
understand why saving any mopar isn't a good thing, title or not.
You act as if this is a new disease that has threatened all mopars. Well I have been building mopars for 40 years and my father before me.
My first Mopar was a 69 swinger that was a total loss according to the insurance company. Wrecked in the front. My dad taught me how to buy a second wrecked swinger that was hit in the back and build a car. There was no such thing as a salvage title back then.
This has been going on long before there was a Mopar hobby. It will be going on generations after I am dead when some new Mopar guy wants to register one of my old mopars that he found sitting somewhere without a title.
No amount of naysayers voices will will sway the owner from building his car. Their words are waste to a builder and will be more so as time leaves fewer cars to build.
Good luck with your futile campaign. They could make it illegal for a person to register a gasoline powered auto sometime in the future and this would still go on for the ownership
papers.

You all seem to be overly obsessed with stolen cars. I've been on this earth for half a century
and never had a car stolen or even seen a stolen car let alone bought one. Lots of used up cars in fields around here. None stolen.
All these "what if's" designed said to protect that serve better to cripple.
This has been my real world experience. Best to avoid the "what it's" if you expect to accomplish positive results in a timely manner. Red tape is a waste of time and resources.

These threads never seem to change. Those that know what is illegal stand by what they know to be true & lawful.

The rest try to convince them that - 'I do it, (or would do it if needed) so therefore it is OK.

The 'those that know what is illegal' are the folks to listen to, the rest are just useless thread pot stirrers trying to get you to join the dark side.
