I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I am very anxious about flying to Florida this evening. In my mind I realize how safe flying truly is, but I struggle even though I have flown before.

The flight leaves at 7pm today Pittsburgh to Tampa - only a 2hr flight.

If any of my Mopar friends can help, or provide words of wisdom, I would really appreciate it.

have 4 before you get aboard... get near a window and dig the rush of taking off!! - - if all else fails, I'll gladly go for you.. I'm just giving like that..

Bring some headphones and some music to listen to. Some airlines have personal TV's you can watch to take your mind off things. But bring your own headphones or ear buds. Or you have to buy them on the plane. Good luck, you'll be OK.

No need to worry. It's been several hours since the last terrorist attack at an airport. Once you make it through that gauntlet, your odds of surviving the flight are markedly better. Enjoy the thrill of the adventure. When it's your time, you are going anyway. Why stress?

This is a for sure!

Just put them on as soon as you sit down, close your eyes and relax.

As for me I love flying, have part of my license and I wanted to be a fighter pilot so I enjoy the rush of it all.

Just like riding a bus, but usually smells better. Bring some warm weather back with you please.

your chance of dying in a plane crash is like standing on the golf course during a terrible thunder storm, with a nine iron in the air daring God to strike that iron right out of your hand, and when the bolts hits its, daring Him, to do it twice in a row!!???? yep.

like he said, get there plenty early and have 4 good ones before you board. unless you have to change flights, you might end up in Montana!????

If your gonna have those four, better do the strong ones in the short glass. 4 beers and you will be walkin the aisle, and standin in line for the restroom somewhere over the Carolinas.

All good advice, thanks fellas. And ScampMike, you are a generous guy! lol. Ativan called into pharmacy today - should help a little. I know the fear is irrational.

The only fear of flying should be that you have to sit between 2 large people. And if that happens and you do crash!....It's like being surrounded by pillows. See no fear.

What I do is read a book...from the minute I put on the seatbelt I just read...I am not an easy fly person...take off scares me...so I read...I don't look out the widow I put myself in my book and before I know it we land...Marla

I would be hanging out the window looking at the scenery if I could. :D

Well folks, I'm in the air! I paid the 8 bucks for "free wifi".
Take off was a rush, I do like that. I'm 40,000 feet over North Carolina.
They have a really cool flight tracker.

Relax and enjoy the ride. Here's some music for you.

flying at night is awesome.. you should be able to see the coast lines.. boats, other planes (maybe) - cities... enjoy it! (guess I ain't getting that ticket huh!? LOL) where you flying into?

Are ya there yet.... x2 in bringing the warm weather back with ya.. have fun both on the ground and in the air and tell us all about it when ya get back. Derrick.

hey roadrunner....

glad you're having a good flight....

i flew a lot in the Marines going all over the world "doing stuff"... lots of military flights ... lots of civi flights. on the civilian flights when i was walking out the door, if the pilot was standing there i'd always tell him that it was a great landing - "but do you think you could put this bird on a carrier?" they would always laugh - or make a smart remark if they were former Navy fighter jocks - which a lot of commercial jumbo jet pilots used to be.

i'm a born-again Christian so i always recited "The Lord's Prayer" as we began our roll-out for take off. it always seemed to keep me calm. and after a few weeks in ramadi, iraq in 2005, i pretty much realized that there was no point in worrying about "that bullet out there with my name on it" cause there wasn't a damn thing i could do to affect that bullet if it was meant for me... so i guess what i'm saying is - right before you take off, say a little prayer and then try to forget about what's happening....

have a great trip .... and a safe LANDING!!

Take some Viagara/Cialis about an hour before the flight and request a full pat down at security....
