Any Foxbody guys here?

Fun fact, if I recall, the Fox convertibles were notches with the roof cut off. Wasn't till the SN 95 that Mustang had a truly designed convertible body..what you'll find is alot of what is left is convertibles as they werent beat on as much or raced.

Absolutely true! Notchbacks were shipped to a jobber shop like Kar Kraft where the roofs were sliced off, rear 1/4 window tracks were installed (all were power, regardless of whether or not the front ones were power or manual, at least the first few years), and the top mechanisms and assembly were installed. Along with an additional brace along the pinch welds and some torque boxes.

I had an 83 notchback t top car a few years ago that was in decent shape, needed one 1/4 panel but otherwise solid, sold it as a roller. Had a t top 83 hatchback at the same time with a decent 302/C6 and 8.8 rear end. Only had a 3.08 gear with traction lok, but it really needed at least a 3.73. Sold that one a few months later to a lawyer as a father/son project. I would have kept it but I absolutely HATE t tops!

I wanted to get her something Mopar but her main requirements were,
1. Stick shift
2. Convertible
3. “Kinda sporty”
We looked at some Valiants and even some Miatas. But they were either too big of a project, too expensive, or too new for me to want to work on it.
This car fit the bill pretty much perfectly because it was dirt cheap, runs and “yard drives”, has a huge aftermarket, and it’s just old enough that it’s not a pain in the rear to work on.
I have a few 440s laying around waiting to be rebuilt so maybe it’ll end up with a 440/4speed!
I think a 318/5speed would probably work better for her though.
I’m not allowed to work on it without her because she wants to learn and participate in everything with it haha

Parts car!

There is a ton of support for aftermarket parts.
Join a forum they are helpful not quite as much as ours, but helpful. Also a lot of events for foxbody and real easy to make power with the 5.0
Here is mine. Have fun....

My 86 Vert at the track a few years back I drove it there and wasn't beating it... ran 15s granny shifting it. I agree on support and availability of parts etc.

See, stuff like this is just not helpful. I don't need another project, nor do I need a Foxbody. And yet people keep tempting me with stuff like this. :poke:

Very nice!

Love your car.......I had an 88....same notch back deep shadow blue metallic with grey cloth interior. Should've kept that car

They were real cheap 10-15 years ago. The 4 eyed ones even more so. Alot of times you could buy them they'd start and you drive them away.
