Anybody see this article on a 'camless' engine design?

This is long overdue. If we ever get production "camless" engines, just imagine the tuning possibilities. Assuming the rest of the engine can "keep up" you could tune the thing from A-Z.......a mild gas mileage queen to a wild HP monster. We already have EFI and ignition control.............
 
I own several "camless" internal combustion engines

all of them are 2 smokers though
 
I have seen this idea before, problem lies in the speed they need to open and close. There is or was no processor that could react fast enough, and the other issues were monumental. Maybe they got worked out. Great.
