Thinking of stopping there the second week of October. I see you have to make arrangements to drive up.

My wife and I were just there a couple weeks ago. We took the Cog Railway. I think they require reservations. Beautiful, for sure.

Many times. Used to live in Woodland Park, CO. What would you like to know?

Make sure you bring a coat and gloves. Good brakes are essential for the descent. The donuts at the summit visitor's center are horrible.

When we were there, it was in the 50's (Early August, about 11:00 a.m.).
I don't eat sweets, but some people raved about the donuts, some were like, whatever.
The railway is open 12 months, weather dependent. I drove up 40 years ago in January, with a friend. They close the road at a certain point in winter (at least they did then).
As a side note, we saw bicyclists up there! I can't imagine the condition you must be in to do that! I wish I could have talked to them.

Went this summer. Go online and reserve your timeslot for $2. Then you pay your $50 when you get to the booth. At about 11kft, I'd get a little dizzy looking sideways while driving. From there on, I had to stay focused straight ahead. Was very worth it.

I'd like to drive it again. A bucket list thing.
I've driven up shorter mountains, and I can appreciate what it must be like. I wouldn't want to do it in a pos rental car, though.

Been there, done that. Be sure to have a footrace around the parking lot at the top!! You'll be on the ground before you know it!!

When did they start making you pay ? I was born and raised in Colorado and drove it many times. I must say though the early 80's was the last time. My how things change

We will be traveling down from Washington State through Montana then South Dakota the second week of October. Taking the 25 south through Denver and Colorado Springs. Thought we would take a drive up to the summit.

Went on a road trip many years ago. Went on my CBR600F2. It was tuned down in the desert of AZ..and was just a touch lean there. Just glad I had bough a box of jets with me so I could adjust things as needed. I made it to the top just before sunset. Was a fun ride...except for getting chased by a bunch of bears. And the snow I rode into. And the bugs. Within 20 miles I went thru 2 lenses on my helmet, a pair of safety glasses. There was a lot of bugs...big bugs...little bugs...

Made the i25 drive thru Denver on the last Saturday in June. 1:30 in the afternoon, with the camper in tow. Totally sucked. I hope to never be on i25 ever again. Maybe we should have taken the 470 loop, but being a Saturday and wanting to drive past Mile High stadium, we thought how bad can it be...... Other than that, our 17 day loop from MD, to SD and CO then back to MD was an awesome 4000 mile trip. The day before we drove The Peak, was the annual hill climb. They had sleet and snow at the summit for that.

Was up there in '75 with my '69 Bee. Gravel road, no guardrails most of the upper half of the road. Wife was scared sh**less at every turn. Those were the days! :steering:

Go also to Red Rocks and the Amphitheatre
Denver Museum of Natural history... Yeah man

Been up there 3 times. Once a young child with our family, then with my 2 boys and wife and the last time on my 1977 Gold Wing. Road was still not paved all the way. Was awesome.

Rode my Honda 500 4 cylinder extended forks up it. Rode from Indiana,it was in 1977. Those were great days.

The place grew. When I was up there as a kid it was 14,110 feet. Still have the shirt that says it.
