I didn't like it at first. The alerts are OK and I like the live updates. It's cool to see that there is a new reply to a thread while you are in it, it gives you a chance to read it and possibly change your reply.

I agree that the navigation is somewhat confusing, just seemed easier to find what you were looking for in the previous version with the choice list on the top. Maybe move the search box to a more prominent spot, it gets lost where it is right now. There seem to be too many layers/redundancy currently, I would like to see it a little more stripped down.

I'm unsure how to use the 'recent posts/new posts' thing, it's not real clear.

I miss the user control panel, just seemed to be more intuitive than whats in place now.

What I really don't care for is the social media aspect of it, I opted out of all that crap.

I would also prefer to go back to PMs, conversations sound namby-pamby.

I'm not struggling with it I just don't like the layout , the coolest part of the old layout was the opening page had the latest threads and the list of who was on real time .I liked that I could check in real quick and move on if there wasn't someone or something I wanted .

The one thing i do miss was the thing that showed the number of times a thread was viewed, but not necessarily posted on.

Software doesn't work like that, it's more like "upgrade or die". Where "die" means being taken over by hackers and spam bots after the software company stops providing security updates.

I don't mind it too much. It just takes some time to figure out. The only thing I really miss is the little blue icon on the side of a post I commented on in a forum. It was easy for me, to find a particular post I commented on, and go back later to continue a conversation in a forum.

If you look at the list on the recent posts page, your avatar will be there showing threads you posted in, instead of the blue box with a check mark in it.

Thanks! I see it now. I also see an eyeball saying watched. The new forum is good. Just need to spend some time playing with it to figure it out.

And when the whole site crashed because the old software was outdated and subject to hacking, where would we be?

I'm no fan of change either, but I 'will' get used to it. lol.

I don't have much of a problem with the new format. You just have to get used to the new lingo. The only problem I have is the thread titles. It used to be when I went into a forum the threads that were new or had new posts in them would be highlighted. That made it easy to check threads. Now all the threads are the same except for ones you have looked at. I don't want to look at every thread everytime I log on. And that means I may miss something where I could have helped another member.

Ask me for what your looking for --- Much better then just stumbling around not being able to find something. That's what we have a Website Questions and Suggestions forum for. (where this post should have been in the first place so I could find it easier)

Click your name on the top right -- in there will be a link to SIGNATURE.

And how would you have felt if hackers had got in and wrecked the site because the old software was vulnerable? Do you change your oil? Why? If the engine is still running it must not be broke and not need a change.

In time. That is a separate addon to the software. I didn't want to hit you guys with too much "New" stuff at once, plus I'm still not 100% happy with the addon I'm considering using.

      Its back. Click HOME.
