I am always just digging around for parts new and used. Has anyone else noticed how expensive aluminum intakes have gotten these days. Doesn't matter if it is new or used, the price is pretty hefty most of the time. I have also noticed that used aluminum ones do not pop up for sale very often either. Looks like people are holding on to them for a spare, so they don't have to pawn the title to their car just to buy a new one. Rant over. Lol.

Ya it's an expensive hobby! Not sure about your logic on the manifolds they seem to be between $100 and $200 for most everything used except the rare stuff like LD, original 6 pack etc...

it just depends on the intake. I have found many SB and BB edelbrock performer intakes pretty cheap, around 100 bucks, even for new ones. I paid 75 for the torker 440 I have now, brand new , never used

I didn't notice. I have a couple SBC intakes that are collecting dust in my garage. Tried selling at $100, then $75 and finally $50 on CL and no responses. I figure if I ever make a scrap run that is where they will end up. I don't shop for them, I would rather stay stock if it works anyway.

I guess mostly I am talking about the eddie air gap, but they are expensive new also. I had one and sold it cheap to help with funds to buy my 6 pack setup. I guess I am having sellers remorse. LOL

Watch ebay. I got a brand new Edelbrock Performer with Felpro gaskets and a tube of Permatex gasket maker, and something else ( I forget ) tossed in the box... cheap too comparatively speaking

scrap cast AL is a out .75 a lb. Thats about $12 scrap value for a 16 lb intake manifold. Chevy is a soft market as there are so many out there. I have been shopping intakes for as long as I have been in the hobby ~30 years and $100 has been about the average price out there for a used Mopar intake. Chevy and ford stuff is 1/2 that and AMC is a little higher. They hold there value for sure. I dont think I ever lost money on an intake, but never made much either with one exception.

X2. I have 3 intakes I've bought, one a Performer, a Performer RPM and paid around 75 here locally. I bought a complete 360 intake with TQ before I decided not to use it for around 40.00

Learn to search your local Craigslist. I realize the size of the town / area affects. I live near Spokane, which ain't all that big a cowtown.

What I see here varies for used intakes. The last one I bought was a Weiand 8007 Action Plus for 50 bucks on CL.

It was in perfect condition.

I got my Edelbrock dual plane for 60 off Craigslist, and it was about 2 miles from me.
I did have to clean it up a little.
I also got a near new eddie 1406 electric choke carb and crome air cleaner from the local pick and pull.
100 bucks for all three.

I scored a cherry LD340 of Craigslist for $80 with no modifications. I also found a CH4B for $50 and a performer 318/360 for $75. Some people are just asking rediculous money hoping to get it.

Do like I did. Become a Ford guy. I just paid 75 shipped for a nice aluminum 302 intake.
