Would love some remote mount coil photos/ideas?

I'm strongly considering going to a terminator x with coil near plug setup. Dual sync distributor with a dummy cap.

I keep laying them various ways, and setting them on the valve covers, but not sure what I like.

Mine are mounted on the aluminum valve covers cant take all the credit Mad dart originally did them and I modified for the different LS coils.

Here's what I used to mount mine. I drilled 4 blind holes and tapped them to an aluminum plate that I welded to my valve covers.

@racerjoe had a nice setup with all of the coils stacked where the distributor on his LA. He might not have used LS coils though, don’t remember. It was clean though.

If you use the Jeep cam sensor, it will free up a bunch of room where the distributor is. I made brackets as mentioned above to hold the LS coils with the heat sinks on them. I guess you need to decide if you want them somewhere that looks good or somewhere that makes easy access to them or for valve cover removal. Mine looked good and allowed for easy valve cover removal, but they were hard to access if one ever failed.

Thanks for the tip! I planned on a dummy distributor cap on a dual sync holley. Is there a magnum / grand cherokee cam sync type distributor i'm unaware of? or are you talking about using an external sensor like a crank trigger? I thought GC's had distributors and plug wires until they stopped making them with the 5.2 / 5.9 and went to the 4.7?

thanks again!

I'm not familiar with the magnum engines enough to have an educated answer for you. I purchased a cam sensor adapter from SD Concepts years ago to use the Jeep sensor. I don't think those are available anymore, and I'm not aware of anyone else making them. I sold mine after I did my hemi swap.

Thanks guys, these are what I was picturing, just didn't know the "Jeep" part of it. Fords and chevys had these in later years too. Never seen one on a mopar. Very cool

Or this....I like the above better, but just seems trickier. Not enough room to run a bolt through the valve covers, and loop the plug wires 180 degrees

Top does look good, just drill and tap and red lock tight the bolts in and call it good. Buy some LS spark plug wires and good to go.

I welded some cheap D585 coil brackets to the top of my VC. The downside to that is if I ever wanted to switch to IGN1A coils, I'd have to buy new valve covers. I think if I were to do it again I'd weld 2 or 3 blind hole bungs in the VC and make an adapter plate for any coils I wanted to run.

This is still my favorite look for a CNP setup, these are @racerjoe pictures.

That said, I understand the servicability and don't mind them on the VC's. The only one I don't really care for is remote mounting them off the motor. Just an aesthetics thing for me.

I think @goldduster318 did a CNP setup as well?

That's the pictures I was looking for! To be honest, I think I only had a suspected coil problem once, which turned out to be nothing. But I didn't figure that out until I took one side apart. Valve cover removal was easy, just pull the wires and fold them over the intake like you would have done with a distributor.

Also I should mention I have a 36-1 wheel on the crank pulley and a 92+ Magnum distributor with the rotor part cut off for a cam sensor. No need to get too fancy on the cam sensor at all. I would have made a better crank sensor bracket if there was ever a problem but so far there hasn't been.
