Are there any issues installing a PCV in the valley tray on my RB?

Like the title asks, I am considering installing a PCV in the valley tray?
 
My thoughts are you’ll need a VERY good baffle.

I know people who have put breathers and vacuum pump ports in the valley plate that proved unsuccessful.
 
I think you’ll lose the full effect of the pcv because you won’t have the full cross flow.
 
Buick and Pontiac did it for years, don't see why you couldn't do it, you'll need to baffle it.
 
Yes, Pontiacs had it but they had another piece of metal welded under the top tray, with a gap between the two. Lower metal piece had a hole in it for access to the PCV but it was a long way from the PCV position & acted like a baffle, which you will need.
 
You would need to install a fairly complex can type of structure underneath the valley pan. It can be made to work, but it isn't as simple as drilling a hole in the valley plate and sticking a PCV valve. You need a full can with internal baffles and screens or else you'll be sucking oil.
 
I have trickflow cast valve covers so I will be needing to drill a hole I guess.

Does the same hold true as far as needing a baffle system if I mount the PCV on the valve covers? If not I will just have to fab something, not sure I have seen very many complicated baffles in the valve covers in the past.

I feel that the PCV would be best on the drivers rear

Right now I am using only a vent on the rear passenger side, and a sealed oil fill on the drivers front. I am looking at options on placement of the PCV. I am sure there are engine chefs who

Find a twist in oil cap that allows for inserting a PCV into it. MrGasket used to make one.

Or a breather with a nipple and put the PCV inline to the vacuum port

Lots of Ford applications used that for decades.
 
I was going to use one of Andy's aluminum valley trays, but it looks like he no longer has them on his website.

I did a version of that valley cover for my dry sump engine with an AN o-ring bung. We put the vacuum pump relief valve in the valley rather than sticking it up in the air on a valve cover. Worked great in the valley but I don't think a PCV would work so great there. Might work if you used a long length of hose and mounted the PCV up on the firewall.

The PCV needs to be baffled and adjusted per the engines requirements. Regardless of it location. Just use IT for most street applications!
Otherwise use the crankcase evacuation system to the exhaust in its place! JMO!
