K,
So I'm on the prowl for an 8 3/4 to upgrade the rear in my 65' Cuda, also wanting the bbp.
Talked to a guy off of cl that stated I have one already to go, already been narrowed, Posi, 3:70 ratio and it came out of a b-body.$800 and it's yours. He sent these dimensions: Housing length 52.75 , Drum 2.125 , Axles spline to flange 25.5 & 26
and these pics:

I guess ya get what you pay and folks make do with what they got, but I'm not a big fan of the redrilled axles and
drums. Seems like that could affect the structural integrity.

Would you:
A) Offer $650 and grab it (replace axles and drums $600?)
B) Run for the hills
C) Keep looking

Welds look like ****. I bet it's a backyard job and he didn't use a jig. It's prob not straight. I'd talk him outta the chunk and leave the rest

Axles don't appear to be redrilled, just the drums. But I don't know how you can have drums that are redrilled that fit axles that aren't, since the axle flange offset is different on the axle for SBP and BBP. I'd bet that those brakes will not work on those axles. They might physically slide on, but they're not right.

The rust on the ring gear makes it useless, so the gears are throw aways. Center chunk probably needs a full rebuild with that kind of rust on the ring gear. Axles look pretty rusty as well. Probably still workable, but not the best. But they should also be the same length, so either the axles don't fit the housing, or the housing is offset a 1/2", and it shouldn't be.

It's not worth anywhere near $800, that's for sure. I'd run.

Makes my 600 dollar Versailles 9" disk brake "almost a bolt in" look pretty cheap, no?

Coscidering all the pics are taken outside in the yard, I'd assume that's where its been sitting, I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole!!
