Trying to understand options and discovered ATK’s 408 stroker short block. Looks to have decent internals Scat and such.

Anyone have any experience With these?

I considered going the same route.. I think there’s two levels of short block..I think the difference is the rod choice. They’re 5.9 magnum based and I think those are balanced internally. I ended up finding a 340 though so I went that route instead. One of them was $2999 through summit… at least earlier this year it was.

Yes. I am also considering a Blueprint.

Nope, according to the website the difference is the more expensive short block has a forged crankshaft and forged pistons.

Chrysler Short Block

Summit gives away 10% off coupons at various car events. Those discount codes are often shared on forums such as FABO.
Thats like $1000 of a 10k crate motor. I wonder if they were good for crate motors from ATK or Blueprint? Ill keep an eye out as I wrench on my 340 and 318.

Yes. Two years ago my buddy bought a BluePrint 350 Chevy engine that way. It's 10% off anything except sale items.

You could open a Summit speed card too. They often have 10 or 15% off promotions on purchases where you use their card. It may have a cap though.

Yes. I am also considering a Blueprint.

Here is the dyno sheet of the 408 that was recently delivered from Blueprint:

It came with a Blueprint air filter lid. I had to change that immediately. LOL

What do the heads have printed on them? I assume Edlebrock but can’t quite tell? Is it a modified head? Do you know who makes the lifters/rockers?

A while back a fellow in my town bought an ATK BB Chevy. I wasn't really impressed, power was not there. My distaste rose when I saw the cheap offshore rocker arms, I looked into it no further.
