I'm ready to buy a sure-grip for my 8 1/4. It's currently an open carrier with 2.94's but will be putting in 3.55's.

I've seen "Chrysler OEM" sure-grips made by Dana Spicer going for $220 to $250.

I've seen Auburn Gear sure-grips going for $360.

What's the advantages and disadvantages of each and is it worth spending $120 more on the AG?

BTW, I don't plan on hitting the strip at all... just for city driving.

Also, anyone dealt with these guys before?

I didnt know you had a choice of sure grips with an 8 1/4, still learning about this stuff though. Where about in Vancouver are you? I'm in Maple ridge.

I'm not sure of which one is which, but I think one is of the cone type, and the other the clutch type. The clutch type is readily rebuildable, whereas the cone can be but requires machine work.

The Auburn is cone type and is not rebuild-able but you can send it back to Auburn Gear and they will give you an exchange or something of that nature. It is the D-REX program. I had a Auburn gear in my 68 Charger with a built 383 and 4:10 gears and I had no trouble with it. I gave that car some abuse to. The D-REX program is better that the rebuild-able clutch type. Here is the info:
