Balancer?

-
I’ve been looking for a Rattler for a while. If I could find one I’d surely buy it.

At one time I was going to call TCI and find out what the issue is and if they had a time frame for getting them but I just didn’t have the time.

I emailed them this morning actually.. but being owned by edelbrock i don't expect a reply..

Exactly.
Overkill for most... and if someone were to swap them in the middle of the night.. they'd never know it till they popped the hood.
Thing about it is, if you put a couple of good coats of a quality paint on the balancer front and rear, you will effectively seal the dreaded elastomer so it lasts much longer.

Well I hope that they do.
They used to offer a rebuild service too. I wondered if still offered as a service.
That's one reason I posted pics. Looks like the rivets are removed and reinstalled to do so.
Also was done to put a new SFI date, pulled apart inspection/repairs if need be and new SFI certificate

One I have not watched yet. I’m sure it’s interesting. All you have to do is sign in with your name and email. It’s free.
This is about as much as my crank can handle :)

Checking out that video now... btw.. for anyone that wants to see it you can put in a fake name/email

BTW.... They emailed me back... the small block rattler has been discontinued for bout 4 years...

The thing about Mopar that really got me hooked, was that most of the factory stuff, was already better than everybody else's.. therefore I did not have to buy expensive parts or a ton of aftermarket stuff. The dampener or damper or round chunk of Steel bolted to the front of the crankshaft is the last place I put money unless it was damaged. Nobody's ever won a race because of dampener/damper necessarily, and to prove that the motor stayed together because of that particular damper is something unseen. We are talking Street strip we are not talking dedicated race car setting records so I don't want to hear any examples from that..and im not here to debate. Im just stating my point and preference. None of our motors have the amount of stress and vibration those engines have, in their street cars
I have always run stock, whatever you call them, from a 69 to 70 340 motor and never had an issue. If you feel you may have an issue on one, I draw a line across the rubber insert and see if the outer weight moves. I have never seen one move on a Mopar but have seen the move on my 73' Chevy C30, 350 and had to replace. My motors are mostly stock.

I USE ATI AND A PROCOMP never had a problem with stock , just after 50 years figure best to change rubbrr dies not last firever with alll the heat cool down the engine does

Pretty much the same here. The only balancer I've ever had come apart so to speak or slip, was on my 5.9 Magnum in my truck after about 260k miles.

I run an ATI Super Damper on my 340 Dart and also on my Ford 2500cc Mini-stock. At the season end tear down on the race motor, bearings show next to no wear. And that's after 13 races turning 7800+.

that's damn good.. i'm going to get one when the new motor goes in (hopefully over winter)
