BB oil pan discussion

I'd use the Milodon 30931. Triangulated low profile seven qt, set up.for a dash twelve external pickup.
......assuming you have manual steering.
I have no idea what would work with power steering.

440 Source has the pan you need. $149.95. And no you don't "need" the 1/2 in pick up or the external line for 10 second car.

FWIW, you may encounter an issue with a hard right turn. Not too long ago another member had to modify theirs..........

I was just getting ready to reply about my experience with 440 oil pans in my 70 dart when i saw this. I believe you are talking about me. The op could search for my post and read all aboutit. Fwiwthe 440 source pan in yor pic did not allow a right turn. As your pic shows the 893 pans notch is farther forward and might have worked but at the time all i could get was the 440 source and i didn't see any available this am but maybe there are. Anyway i had to fab an enlarged notch which as a pita but it worked. Edit i mean the notch is farther back or rerward when looking at it from under the car laying on you back

I already have the cnc edelbrock heads. Have a set of cnc stealth as well but they are on a motor.
Parts in hand and less money out of my pocket is my thinking.

Car is manual steering and has a c body pan on it now.Larger steering notch I believe than the original A body pan.

My concern with the external pickup would be motor mount clearance and hose routing
I use an engine plate. I had to clearance the steering box mount and probably would have been a lot more if the mount boxes were on the k-member.

I ordered the 547 oil pan, 1/2 oil pickup tube from 440 source as well as their stock stroke windage tray.
The issue of the pan hanging a little lower should be minimal because it's EXTRA THICK. Lol
In the next couple weeks I should be able to check clearances. The 187 pan I have had lots of room. I have the 73 and up steering. I am guessing my Hotchkis sway bar will be about the same elevation of the deeper pan.
I am going to check the pan fitment before installing it on the new engine and painting. Hopefully mine clears without hammer modifications.
I can post my results as they seem to vary.

Results?
I'm going through this same issue in 2025 and there are no threads with the conclusions posted. Everyone got their pan and never posted if it fit or how. lol

Darn it. I bought the pan back in December. It's been a long couple of weeks.LOL
I have almost done nothing on the car since.I will post my results with pics when I get it mocked up. I bought a borgeson box to test fit also. I will try to get to it soon.
