BB Valiant Suspension Setup for Drag

In your last video, the car is still not leaving evenly in the front. Unfortunately CalTracs are a true learning experience, keep a written log of each change you make and don't make big changes. Also, your rear tires may be spinning on the wheels you might want to look into putting bead screws in the inner and outer lips of the wheels. My car actually spun one of the slicks off of the bead years ago before I put screws in the wheels.

Thanks a lot. My tyres are skrewed in the wheels. That are weld Racing.

Cal Tracs are with a little gap this Weekend. I think to that this could be much better. But Its a lot try and error

@mohni, yes it is. On our stock eliminator Dakota, we installed CalTracs before it was mandated that we install a roll cage and got it all sorted out making the truck leave with about 4" of daylight under the wheels. We installed the roll cage and that stiffened the truck up, so we had to start all over again with the adjustments. It took us a total of three months combined pre roll cage and post roll cage. Good luck, keep sneaking up on it you'll get it set up like you want.

Hello Guys,

new season has begun for me. The First races are over.

First many Thanks to User Weedburner for the Clutch Tamer Service and all the Tips.

Run new PB of 10.95 in Santa Pod. But broke the 9inch Rear End at First Start. Fixed IT with Strange parts at Night and Go to Restart the next day.

I think they are still some Chassis Problems.

Here ist a Slomo Video:

Step Side Clutch at 5000RPM
10 PSI Tyre Pressure
Shocks in the Back middle Settings

Hi Mohni, great that you were able to do some more runs in santa pod....honestly, i would have quit after the damage.

the slomo is good, it seems to unload the rear tire. slow down the extension with more rebound i´d say, possibly there´s a way to use the caltracs settings against this behaviour - but i´m no expert there. Possibly more tire pressure / stiffer sidewalls will help to reduce the "spring" effect of the tire.

I asked regarding the pinion angle before - is it nose down some degrees? should be....

Looks like a lot of fun tough :-) hopefully get my engine back together this fall.

Michael

I have a similar set up, but I run 13.4 lbs in the slicks. Anything less the ties unload and bounce like on your video. The simplest thing to try is adding air pressure.

You gotta try and get that caltrac bar heading down hill or a little more level to take hit out of the tire which is being killed, probably need a couple pounds of air in the tires too.
You might need a lowering block between the axle and mount or modify the spring perch to go up with the bar.
