I have a quick question. I have a 68 Valiant that originally had a bench seat in it. I have an opportunity to get some bucket seats at a decent price. My question is this: are there any spacers that I need to add to the bottom of the bucket seat tracks so that the seat will sit level when installed to the floor? On the exterior side or door side of the floor pan there are raised sections that allow for the bench seat to be mounted. There are not the same raised sections on the floor pan on each side of the trans tunnel where the bucket seat would mount. I hope this isn't too confusing. It's hard to describe without a picture. If I need to add more info please let me know.

If they are a-body buckets they mount right in. You just need the re-inforcement plates for the buckets two for each side. They mount on the top side (interior). I think this is what you are asking.BTW I have the correct plates.

Do you have the bucket seats and do they have the brackets/tracks on them. If they do you should have one track which is lower in height than the other. The lower track is for the raised (outer) floor mount to which the current bench seat is bolted. The floor near the inner area should have dimples which as described in this thread need to be drilled and re-inforced. This is the area where the taller track will mount to the floor. the lower track compensates for the raised area in your floor plan. Hope this helps!

This is exactly what I was looking for. The buckets are from a 68 valiant as well and yes, the tracks are included. All I need to buy is the reinforcing plates.

Thanks for your help everyone.

You can make them very cheap. Any hardware store will have some material which just needs to be cut to size, drilled and welded in. Good luck and enjoy your buckets!

Not A body specific, but I just put buckets in my 73 Satellite.

The bucket tracks had those round aluminum disk spacers.

I'm 6'3" and I need as much headroom as I can get.

I took off the spacers, and the buckets without the spacers sit exactly the same height as the bench did.

If I had left the spacers on, I'd have lost 3/4" of headroom.

...and BTW, the reinforcing plates are not 100% necessary.
On my 5th Ave parts car, instead of reinforcing plates, a nut with a much larger and slightly thicker captive washer was used, and those 5th Ave seats are HEAVY.

...and another BTW...the 6 way power seat track from the 5th Ave bolts up to earlier buckets and looks incredibly similar to the 1970-ish 6 way tracks.
