I have a 75' duster with the 318, 904 trans and a 8.25 rear. I was wondering what the best ring and pinion ratio would be. I want it to be easy to drive on the highway, but I want a little more low end. It only has 2:45 right now. Any opinion will help,
Thanks

At the risk of sounding like a douchbag, the 8-1/4 will have a 3.21 ratio, (the .02 difference is only mentioned for when you start looking and not finding it)
I have this ratio in my Duster's 8-1/4 now with 205/70/14's, which has the car runs down the hwy. at approx. 3,000 rpm at 70 mph. 2500 @ 55 or so.

I have a few bolt on's to the 318 w/ a mild cam and it'll run in the high 14's when it's not so hot out, low 15's in the heat. Total daily driver.

Man,not to thread jack,but i have a 8 1/4.
Was told its a 3.23
but it cant be!

on the highway at 60mph it sits just over 2000.
An in 1st i cant hit 55 /60 mph at 6000rpm!

It really needs gears to wake her up.
She still chalks no problems tho haha!

Oh there not standard.
But still.

My 360 is still new to me,
its my 318 thats taken a blasting an how its
still going i still wonder lol.
