I just saw someone mention evaporust in a thread here and remembered a thread i had posted on FBBO but not here.. just gonna put the link.. this mixture is amazing and costs nothing compared to Evaporust... i just hate wasting money and that **** gets expensive..

Rust removal, better than evaporust and 10x cheaper..

soo.. so in doing my car which was a michigan car i have dealt with a lot of rust and spent way too much money on evaporust that i finally went online and looked and found this guys video and made his mix and it worked better than evaporust and lasts longer so far. Sadly i'm down to only a few...

I've done that with vinegar, lime juice and salt.

Have to make sure it gets neutralized after the bath.

A link to some mixtures that work pretty well. Great way to get rid of Ketchup if you don't like it!

At least as cheap, even easier (no mixing), and no risk of hydrogen embrittlement: molasses!

K, just sharing the nfo... the guys video in my thread is pretty complete on how he came up with it and such.. Molasses works fine if you have a month

I have used citrus acid for 30 or so years.
If just a few small parts you might have some already Lemi Shine for dishwasher.
Right by the dish washing detergent at Walmart ect. Hot water plastic bowl

I'd like to try the molasses solution. I've tried Rust 911 which seems cheaper than evaporust and works about the same. But nothing seems to work on the crap cars I found lately.

Citric acid works great. Works out to about $1/gallon when you buy a 10 lb bag. I used it to de-rust the inner surfaces of my deck lid and doors on my '66 Dart.
