So for the 451 I'll need minimum 900 cfm,and 1000 is better. Lets here all the options, from bargain basement reworked TQ to a hi dollar whatever. Must be a carb, fuel injections way to spendy for this guy.

Will be using a single plane M1 and ported 452's by BJR. And a large solid cam.

Thanks for the help as usual folks!

If they flow what I think they'll flow and it has 11.1+ comp,
I recommend a quick fuel 1050 annular, especially with 4sps or 3000+stall.

If you wanna stay on the small side then no less than 830cfm.

Yes ,will be close to 10.5:1 or 11:1. Should have mentioned 727 automatic and roughly 3000 to 3500 stall. Solid cam is under .600,and over .570,cant remember exactly. May be a hughes cam or a comp.

I would say a 1050 also, here are some flow numbers from a friends 452's with 2.14/1.81 valves.

Lift.........Int........Exh.
.100........86.........81
.200.......178.......123
.300.......226.......147
.400.......259.......159
.500.......293.......187
.600.......298.......188
.700.......300.......195
.800.......302.......199

The exh. side was bowl blended only no gasket matching or porting. Your heads should be something like his. The intake side was gasket matched and bowl blended. The port volume was only about 190 cc's.

Skip the bull and grab a Holley for this.

Yup,holley was my first thought. Just exploring the options. Thanks for the #'s BJR,Im going to plug em in and play now...hehe

A 1050 cfm carb likely means mech secondaries. I see a couple different Dominators that fit the bill. How well is it going to work given Im using an automatic tranny?

Will the hi stall help with that? I know there can be bog issues running mech secondaries with an automatic.

I've had good luck with the 8896 1050 Holley Dominator right out of the box. Then fine tune it to the best performance level.

I've seen alot of problems with the 8896's metering so I would rec. a 9375, this is one of the best carbs that holley has in the dom. line of carbs. IMO

And yes, a high stall will help tons. The mechanical secondary carb works very well with an auto trans and a high stall.

Other factors that help are a light car & steep gears.

The bog issues come from just the reverse, heavy car, low gears and getting into the secondaries before the engine can handle it all.

I'm dealing with that right now except with a 750cfm 4150 on a 318 with a 904.
Having to learn how to drive the car different with mechanical secondaries.

I should be O.K then. Target weight is 3000 (fibreglass hood, fenders, valance, manual steering, aluminum intake, headers, ditch the rear window regulators, aluminum water pump setup or electric, and losing the brake booster puts it at about 211 lb's less than stock) with driver and rear gears are 3:91 to 4:10 plus a 3000 to 3500 stall.

AnotherA,I'll check out those links.Thanks.

Summit has the holley at a reasonable price.
