Bleeding New Manual Brake System - Drip at Hard Brake Line Flare Nut to Flex Line Connection. Tips?

See attached photos - At the connection between my new intermediate hard line and my new rear axle flex line, when I slowly pump the brake pedal the hard line flare nut threads gets damp with brake fluid and starts a very slow drip, resulting in a pedal that very slowly creeps toward the floor. I held the hard line in place as I finger-tightened the flare nut and then finished off with a brake flare wrench. How hard do I tighten? I don't want to strip threads. I've seen posts suggesting that I tighten/loosen/tighten the flare nut several times to get the hard line flare seated and the drip will eventually stop. FABO Nation - let me hear your tips on stopping the drip! Thanks, Dave

Sometimes you have to "seat" flare fittings, especially stainless. Tighten them tightly and loosen them several times. That should do it.

SS lines (if that's what you have) are notorious for this.

Are they stainless? Regardless, tighten and loosen then lather rinse repeat.

The flare nuts that @Professor Fate posted work very well and should be in your tool box for sure.

Sometimes those braided brake lines are made for ball end lines. You may want to check that. Otherwise like others said tighten it, you won't strip that stainless end very easy. Uses a 5/8 wrench on the hose so you don't round out the bracket.

How do you know what size angle you are supposed to have?

Brake lines are typically 45 degrees while AN style fittings are 37 degrees.

I forgot to mention that my hard lines are plain steel and not stainless. The consensus seems to be to tighten/loosen/tighten repeat. Thanks FABO Nation for all your tips.

As RustyRatRod and 4spdragtop suggested,- I tightened down and loosened the flare nut connection several times (I did it 5 times). Each time I tightened down, I could feel the flare nut turn just a hair more. That musta finally seated the flared end of the tubing, because no more drip, and I now have a firm brake pedal! Thanks again!
