Is this guess for first run "off the trailer" or best run of the day after tuning? I'm guessing the latter. [sorry for all the questions]With the BB, should be about 3900 at the starting line

In my opinion it’s worth less than that.P.S. - I gave a 100 for the torker... LOL

Best run of the day. It's the only way to be fair to the 440. I usually only get about 3 runs anyways. Is this guess for first run "off the trailer" or best run of the day after tuning? I'm guessing the latter. [sorry for all the questions]
years ago... in the 80's, we had a single plane (maybe even a torker or tarantula style) on my brothers GTX. M-50's on the back, we could have 4 guys in the car at 50 mph and kick the rear tires loose. I still have the factory cast intake for the RVIn my opinion it’s worth less than that.
But all of my experience is with small blocks. I have not used a big block version.
I like how you're doing it. It'll show just how much low compression and a stock cam affects performance.LOL.... We'll build the 440 eventually. I'm putting it in as is now because I'm more interested in this project on what it's going to do than I would be in any car project in my yard or on youtube... But rest assured, 318willrun gives parts away, hardly anything comes my way for free. ha!
Yeah, because everybody's GONNA compare the 360's best run.Best run of the day. It's the only way to be fair to the 440. I usually only get about 3 runs anyways.
In which.... it's really not comparing anymore (though they will). It's really just seeing what the biggest smog era RV Big Block will do... The magnum is far more efficient than what this 440 is as it sitsYeah, because everybody's GONNA compare the 360's best run.
Do all the things to the 440 that the Magnum has. The 9 plus compression, hydraulic roller cam and 1.6 rockers. Then what happens? In which.... it's really not comparing anymore (though they will). I brushed the snow off the truck yesterday. Woke up this morning and it was snowing and recovered it..The RB engines tend to perform very well with a single plane as a function of runner length. I think it would be close with the open plenum, but the RPM probably has a lot more even cylinder to cylinder flow. But it would be fun to see back to back runs with it and the 4.30 gears. But Man, spring was already taking too long to get here… no doubt about, this one’s going to be worth the wait!

I recall the era when the Torker was one of the few manifold options available. Used B bodies were 1500 bucks and every teenager was striping the neighborhoods.P.S. - I gave a 100 for the torker... LOL
Those numbers are from multiple test compairing cast iron manifolds with 48"×2" pipe on the small cam and same manifolds with 36" × 2" pipe on the big cam motor (each was optimized for pipe length) to mid length header with 2.25" × 41" pipe small cam motor and same mid length header with 2"x 30" pipe. Again both optimized for length. Difference in diameter of pipe was a rule to try to help the small cam motor. Thanks for real numbers. Can I ask are you hooking up a y-pipe and 2" single exhaust with a cat and a factory style muffler to the manifolds for those numbers? Do you think 40 hp is a reasonable expectation for a '77 440 going from the '77 manifolds/single exhaust/muffler to Headers/2.5" duals with FX mufflers?
If you want to test the difference between exhaust systems bring your motor over and I'll dyno it for free. Thanks for real numbers. My thought with the torker was when I build the 440, it will be the right intake. I wish I had an RPM, I would swap it at the strip and give you the before/after right there! One of the benefits of the 8 bolts and dry intake
I am not too far away. No RPM intake, but I have a tunnel ram if you want to try that.Maybe someone on fabo has one they can loan for a test. If I had one I certainly would. Anyone have an intake they’d like to loan and see a test with?
Here I thought first run off the trailer, oh well. Hope it kicks ***Best run of the day. It's the only way to be fair to the 440. I usually only get about 3 runs anyways.
I'll go 14.53Best run of the day. It's the only way to be fair to the 440. I usually only get about 3 runs anyways.
That would be fun and that's generous of you... but I think we are close to 6 hours apart. If you want to test the difference between exhaust systems bring your motor over and I'll dyno it for free.
I don't think I've ever mentioned "off the trailer". Others have and I've always said best run of the day. Trying to get the 440 a fair opportunity to show us whatever it is it may have... LOLHere I thought first run off the trailer, oh well.
Dan
We got you down as a 14.53!I'll go 14.53
****, Washington State got double that in rain in 2 days lolOur current situation after two snowstorms seven days apart

Yeah, wowIf there ever was a broomstick, that's it.
I don't see how a 440 can even idle with that.
Put me down for 14.32
