Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

It is funny. I have said it at least 25 times in this thread that I do not blame the Dyno. I even stated that I believe the engine made 500 hp on the Dyno. But there is a mental block, he refuses to acknowledge that I said that . I stated that is not 500 hp on that pass. All the Dyno horsepower did not show up at the track. Be because of whatever, the headers, the timing, the ignition the position of the moon, whatever a person wants to blame it . That was not 500 hp and he knows that.

Let’s just say it is Joe’s fault, OK fine, that’s still not 500 horse and he knows it, old yeller, knows it, and drag truck knows it, even lunch break knows it L O L
 
If Joe takes this motor back to the dyno and it dynos at 500 hp.
If I were Joe, I'd hook it up to a chassis dyno. There is no way to tune for race trim on a chassis dyno.
I suspect he's powering through the convertor, no way he drops 125 hp from the difference in headers and coolant temps or even ignition.

In the end, who cares whose fault it is? It's water under the bridge. More "I'm right and you're not" stuff. Makes me sick to my stomach. He has to do it in every stinkin thread he's involved with. I really like the guy. He's a WEALTH of information but he has zero people skills.

...and most of those that get hauled around to tracks all over the country are worthless. All they serve is the rustang and cajunko crowds so they can say "mine makes more power". I agree though a GOOD chassis dyno in a permanent setting with a GOOD operator can help.

I can tell you right now, this matters way more to some people here than it does to Joe. Joe is having a blast as am I.

It's his money and time. He might need 650hp on the dyno to reach a goal if he had one. lol
I'd expect to run within a couple of mph of what the engine is capable of though, that's really not too much to ask for and is usually the case.

A little history. I remember when Joe bought that truck, out in a field. kind of like me with my truck, and he set it aside for whatever. He got invited to the tailgate throwdown, and he thought it sounded like fun. So he took the 406 he had sitting in his shop, and threw it in the truck with a converter, 411s, and slicks. He went to the tailgate throwdown and had a blast. I have full confidence if Joe wants that truck to cut the cheese, he will do it. If that means nitrous, more cubes, or whatever. And if it is Joe‘s engine, he is not afraid to race what he puts on the Dyno
 
His pass wasn’t 500 hp but it doesn’t mean the engine e didn’t make that on the dyno.

Since Joe is your buddy call get him on the holler and ask him those two questions plus what ignition was used on the dyno and what ignition is on the truck.

I won’t drag a friend into a cesspool. And he is my friend. Truthfully, I would be embarrassed for him to see that I participated in these last 13 pages. He’d be shocked that I participated.
 
In the meantime…… while I refuse to learn… I continue to get my daily appreciation comments as I’m happy to say I help people in dumb ways lol

I did make it down and look at my intake like I said. It does have the dent in the runner. However, I really wouldn’t like for anyone to pay for the shipping on a cast-iron intake. If I do a swap at the strip, I want it to be for an RPM. I really appreciate the offer though. I really do. Thank you.

I've read MANY articles on that and the consensus was the runner dents made no difference.
 
I didn't say it didn't matter. Certainly it does. Just not to me. Now, if I were to drop 15K or more on an engine build, yeah, it'd matter. But the total JUNK I build and play with, nah, I couldn't care less. Let me be racin for points and money and I'll be all over a dyno. You and I are on the same page. Having said that, I'm like Tim. All this dyno talk is stupid for this thread and for what he's doing HERE. Why? Because he said so. It's his thread, his truck, his project and his money. You're gonna end up getting his thread closed simply because you have to have the last word and always have to be right. Tell your wife to get the bat warmed up.


I get it. I like Tim but should NOT be making the claims he is. The dyno guy isnt a fault here, and yet two guys have made videos about it and look at this **** show.

Im 99% sure it’s not the dyno.

This isn’t about racing dyno’s or all those lies. It’s about bashing a dyno Thats not the issue.

Now you are lying. I watched the video of you making claims you cant back up. And I’m not the only one taking it that way.

So don’t go there.

I already said it. You have no clue what you are talking about and you think it makes you look smart.

If the engine is 500 hp capable, and it is capable of it.

What’s not capable of it is the truck it’s in and the guy picking the parts and tuning on it.

It’s also on Joe that he didn’t test with the headers he is going to use, and his ignition and whatever water temp was used on the dyno.

When it came off the dyno it was 500 hp. Once Joe took it the power went down.

Thats not the dyno’s fault.
