Breakdown Engine hoist?

This is 2014 the first time I used it!

The damaged receiver was from sneaking a Buck tri-window wood stove into our living room door and rotating the crane about 45*. Fully extended. A lot of angular force applied to the hitch!!!

I guess it can't load the truck bed though
Depends on what it is. I just brought an A833 home with it. I have to take the tailgate off. Then raise it over the side of the bed. No problem with a short block me thinks. I’ve pulled a long block out with my wife’s Subaru and dropped it in the orange car

Another option you might look into--and I have not seen one for a very long time---is you used to be able to rent towable ones. I think they flopped over on their backside, but it's been a long time. If you could find a photo, you might be able to mod one as such, trailer hubs & wheels, etc

The best and safest lift I ever used was a forklift with an extended fork, with a hole at the end for the chain attachment. The best way to pull a motor out of my van. I also pulled a motor out of my storage room, when a cherry picker would not fit. A good long reach.

You could try to find one of these, most compact engine hoist I've ever seen, has it's drawbacks but overall a great hoist that appears they unfortunately don't make anymore. I've had this since the early 90's and I think my Dad got it in the late 80's. Thern Model 548

Ive been storing an OTC branded ex-rental hoist for a buddy for over 20 years. Setup or break down in under a minute with no tools. It and a 440 will fit in the trunk of a 1970 Chrysler Newport. It is pretty sweet

The fix for that would be to get some solid bar stock for the receiver but then, something else becomes the weak point.

just bought one of the fold up ones
it sucks
need to find casters for my old one ...for the third time
can't find steel wheels that will fix under my engine table
