Broadcast sheet from Galen Govier?

-
As long as you can prove that you own the car and if Galen has the original broadcast sheet he will give it to you free of charge.

Is that based on personal experience?

Galen charges for what he does. That's how he feeds his family. If he's got something that belongs to your car you will probably get it for nothing. He's
a good guy and has done more to authenticate the cars in our hobby than any one has. toolmanmike

We have a member here on FABO that will also help you w/ broadcast sheets. Maybe you can send him a PM.... Alaskan_TA

Same member that you have linked to 69bronzeT5

Whenever you go to Galen, expect to spend some money and wait for a long time if you don't have a GSS Demon or a Hemi Charger or something like that haha. I'd also check here if you're missing something.....as a matter of fact, I'd check here FIRST....

Uh... Galen could care less about a GSS Demon. It's a Dealer modified car.

I know him personally and he's an alright guy. For years no one else had the same information he did, or shared it the way he did. He has done a lot for this hobby and managed to make his living doing what he loved. The internet has freed up lots of information about Mopars. It has also given people the opportunity to make assumptions about Galen. If you don't want to pay for his service then don't, but don't bash the guy for making a living off the hobby. I'l bet more than one person that has bashed Galen has also used one of his little books for reference, or been given information out of one...

Hey Dave, when writing to Chrysler Corp. Historical what did you ask for?
Do you send them $45 and they send you forms. I want to research my 70 340 Dart with no build sheet or fender tags. Was hoping for enough info to get replacement correct fender tag made and build sheet.
Thanks

John

I recently got a build card from the chrysler museum for $45. Before I sent any money I dropped them an e-mail with my vin and what I wanted. About 3 weeks later she replied and said yes they do have that info for my car. They do not have build cards for every car. Then a very generous fabo member decoded it for me.

Galen took money from more than one person I know and never provided anything. If that doesn't deserve a bit of ridicule, then I don't know what does.

If you want a broadcast sheet decoded, post it up here or at Moparts and some of the guys will jump in. Lots of the numbers on the sheet are assembly numbers and really not of much good to most.

I gave the year, make, model and vin#. they sent me a package with contained a 1967 Dart Data Book, build record request form, services available, Chrysles historical time line and a list of car clubs. They will process your check/money order only if they locate your vin#. I just sent for my build sheet. If I can help further let me know.

I know nothing about Galin tag service, only the web. I would rather support the Chrysler Historical Collection, my choice.

I'm sorry, I was mistaken about the GSS Demon. I'm sure Galen is an alright guy, I didn't say he wasn't. All I'm saying is I know people who've dealt with him. One guy has a '69 Hemi Charger R/T. He contacted Galen and Galen flew out to the Charger and decoded it and what-not pretty fast. I know other people with 318 Chargers that contacted Galen about decoding their cars and they are either still waiting for him to decode their cars or never got a call back.

It's not guaranteed your vin is on that site. If it's not then nothing is found for your car yet.

Thanks T5.

Who is the gentlemen that will help decode the build sheet. When I get mine back maybe I can get a little help. Although, I don't want to impose on anyones good nature.

Thanks

Dave

Yes, I understand that this happens. I do know that he stays busy and since he makes his living this way, probably sticks to the cars that he can make more $$ on (like flying to see high dollar cars for inspections). It would seem by now that the basic information that a guy with a 318 Charger wants (they can be rare too!) would be easily accessible on the web or by one of his office staff if he still has any. I think it's the common car owner that doesn't like Galen because he doesn't devote the same amount of time to them as he does a "Hemi Cuda".
Since we brought him up, I'm gonna ask about "taking people's money" and not giving anything in return. I just don't see him doing that. I'll let you know what response I get. Can anyone give a SPECIFIC example with proof?

Chrysler has records up to 1967:
http://www.chryslerheritage.com/newsroom.do?id=390&mid=135&mid=146

Just to clarify, Chrysler will send you a copy of your build card, (aka IBM punch card), which was used to make the fender tag and the broadcast sheet, (aka buildsheet).
There was a fire or something and Chrysler lost their records from 1968 up.

I sent an e-mail to Galen for a lost broadcast sheet:
lostbroadcastsheets@gvgovier.com

It came back undeliverable, so I sent it to:
gvgovier@mhtc.net

I checked Alaskan_TA's website, and Moparts lost and found - no luck, but I do keep checking.

I'll send him a pm and see if there is anything else he can do.

PS: I am the one who helped bumnround - Was it helpful? Anything that doesn't look right?

I don't know if this was directed to me or not? I never said anything about him taking people's money and giving nothing in return. All I said was that he never really phones back the 318 or low option car guys.

I believe they only have records through 1967. The story goes that they lost most everything from '68 thru sometime in the early '70s. I sent for info on my '64 cuda and they sent me a copy of the computer tab card that they used as a build sheet then. The also sent an explaination of all the codes for my car. When I tried to get the same for my '69 RR, they had nothing for it.

Not trying to hijack the thread here...but I have completely ripped my 72 duster apart for restore and I have not found a single build sheet.

How would I go about getting one and is there even a way to do so?....I see some of you have mentioned there being no record for early 70's and I see some of you have mentioned contacting them and recieving the computer tab in the mail but you mentioned nothing of cost so was it free? and I also see some of you mention sending $45.00

I guess I am jsut a little confused here....any clarity on the subject would be great, thanks
