Bucket Seat Side Shield Install

Looking for tips on installing side shields on A body Bucket seats. Seems easy enough but I'm nervous about drilling through brand new re-upholstered seat backs. Are there holes located in the seat frame or am I piloting new ones? Not that I could find the original ones if they were there anyway... Thanks in advance.

Can you feel dimples through the vinyl in the proximity of where the trim holes would be?

Kind of. It seems like there are dimples but they seem long, like slots. I cant remember what the frame looks like before re upholstery!
