Cam Choice, roller or flat?

-
OK, I sent off a request to Bullet for their opinion.

I'm thinking that I will stick with a roller cam. So I will send this one back.

Is the lift/duration on the cams previously mentioned enough to attain close to 500hp? Or should I look at getting one with more oomph?

I like to see about .060 more lift at those durations. It depends on the heads too. Most RPMs benefit from a good gasket match on the intake side if you do nothing else. As delivered they need more cam to make 450hp. With some clean-up and a good valve job thye can make 500 with more cam.

Why would anyone want to put a flat tappet in a Magnum block unless class rules stipulated ? Steel billet rollers start at about $230(Herbert)-$300(Comp).Some reason not to convert oem hyd. rollers with mech. guts ? With adjustable rockers, I can think of no reason not run a mech. roller ,on a true performance motor.Good Luck ,ateam
