Cam suggestions

The Year One cam is just a "close cam", similar to Comp cams. They are somewhat close to stock, different ramps, lift etc. but modernized. The same problem exists with the 383/335 HP cam. You wont believe how many people sell the "reproduction" cam. The numbers are all over the place.
It's really hard to find ,actual cams with stock specs.... I have had the best luck with wider lobe center (112-114...) Crowers beast series, and the Crane wide lobe center split patterns, from the early '80,s...

I loved the sixties. I loved the early 70s.The disco era not so much. I was too busy with babies to notice the eighties and nineties. The last kid left home in 2004, and suddenly I was in a world of Wack!
I wish that era from 65 to 75 had never ended.I get so homesick for those days, sometimes.

I would stick with the Mopar cam.

The confusion I have is I found many specs for a stock 340 cam of .429/.444 lift with duration 268/276. If this is the case, then the above cam isn't stock "O.E.M. replacement".

Mopar Performance P4452782AE
Part Number: 312-P4452782AE
Purple Shaft Hydraulic Camshaft & Lifter Kit
  • Chrysler 273, 318, 340, 360
  • Advertised Duration: 268°/276°
  • Centerline: 114°
  • Lift: .429"/.444"
  • RPM Range: Idle to 5800
Cam not in quotes from Year One is a "Competition Cam" called a "Magnum Muscle" cam.
Above cam is the "OE" MoPar cam.
THAT is the OE cam spec.

i have seen many different numbers for duration at .050 for the stock piece.
..anybody have the correct ones.......int .210, exh .220 ?

The one I've measured have all been 208ish on intake and 214ish on exhaust, 429\444 for lift.

The 68 manual was 214 intake and 221 exhaust, 444/453 lift

Those are OEM cams still in or out of engine measured on a cam doctor.
