I'm sure there are a few posts lamenting how its difficult to sell things these days. This post is more of an observation than anything. I've gathered most of the leftover parts from my A,E bodies, Porsche and bass gear days. I gathered the stuff that I figure is worth something or so I thought. I've probably got 40 items listed on a couple of forums and FBMP. Very little has sold over the last 6 months. I did send one small part to Japan though. I don't really need the money or space but I thought I would sell it while I remember what I've got but I can see this stuff going into the dumpster in the sky one day. It has taken a couple of years to sell some more obscure bits and pieces but I usually figure there is no market for it after a year or so. Is it the state of the hobby or the economy or both? I dunno.

I have to look at my parts and ask: is this a specialty part, a collectible part, or just random crap?
Collectible? Ebay. Perpare thy anus for the fee-rape.
Specialty? Specific forums like this one
Random crap? FB Marketplace. Prepare thy scalp because you're going to pull your hair out.

That said, I'm starting to see more specialty-type stuff on FB, but the people....FFFFUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHH

You need to pay someone to haul it off... Through the years I've given away a lot more than I've sold... Funny, when I need it nobody seems to be in a generous mood... Actually that's not true, some folks have been very generous.... I tend to give a lot of stuff to younger guys & friends... Every time I try to sell something someone makes such a low ball offer that I'm inclined to destroy the part in front of them outta spite..

Yeah last week I got the 'do you deliver' request on a $25 part. One guy wrote me a couple terse messages because I declined his low ball offer. All I said was 'I'll pass'.

"Do you deliver?" Lmao, some of these lazy fucks havent even ventured into a wrecking yard or walked a swapmeet.
This place is the size of a small city.....drunks, fiddler, a$$holez. You name it, BUT the good outweigh the bad.

I have a LOT of clearing out to do and the BS with sending anything across the border is excruciating lol.
I've used the Zonos app a few times and have got comfortable with it. I haven't had to pay duty or tariffs classifying parts as 'classic car parts'.

I've put some things up for sale here fairly recently and gotten disheartened because there was zero interest and zero offers, so I just closed the ads out. I'm always very negotiable on price, because I know how it is, but no one even offered a thing. I'm just gonna start hauling it off to the dump. I also have a LOT of model railroad items I need to get out of my way, too, but I'm gonna load the truck up and take it all to the dump, instead. It's become not worth it.

I can only imagine how things are for yall north of the border. All those extra fees and duties have never made sense to me. We're all on the same hunk of dirt. It's nothing more than a money grab.

Im not quite there yet. I’ll probably be in the house for a long while yet so the parts can stay where they are.

I am. I've actually been putting it off for a while. I need the space badly, so I ain't gonna put it off any longer. Gonna be some nice G scale, On30 scale and HO scale stuff goin to the dump soon, along with some good car parts.

My daughters neighbors are quite old and were really happy to show the kids their massive railroad set. Who knows where that will go when they move out.

Yeah so many generations now don't carry the family mantel at all. Whether it's hobbies, or businesses or whatever. Kinda sad. I'm not getting out of it though, just changing scales. Again.

You got any HO vehicles going to the dump? lol we have a train layout in Morocco where we live now. Trying to slowly deviate from hot wheels cars as me and my boy grow toward realism.

I sell more parts than I can keep track of. Maybe you're asking to much.
I scoured Facebook marketplace every day and see the crazy asking price people want for junk.
Just a thought.

The asking for delivery on an under $50 item drives me nuts. When we were still in the US a lady asked me to drive 1.5 hours over a $20 bike. When I told her no I said that’s not worth my time. Then she offered to meet halfway. Wait what so you have a car? Gave it to the neighbor kid instead.

My favorite was when I posted a free curbside pickup with random stuff. A lady messaged me about the shelf I put on there. For free. She asked if you can put stuff on the shelf. What am I supposed to do with that question, do you not know how to operate a shelf? Anyway…

People are sketchy. I offered a transmission case and a set of gears to a member, for peanuts, but I wouldn't front the shipping cost.

I gave them the contact of the ups agent and instructed them to cover the shipping on their own so they backed out. After that I took the parts to the metal recycler and tossed them. No need to store sh** any longer.

If I ever run across a young Mopar enthusiast restoring a car I will give them a couple bins of Mopar hardware that will make their life a lot easier. I have a Mopar friend that I rarely see anymore. He has tons of 66/67 b body parts including big block blocks, cranks, heads, etc. but is reclusive and can't be bothered to sell anything. I expect I will find out one day that he is gone and everything went to the dump.

I don't disagree, Al. But I always am open to offers. Gotta start somewhere.

Model train stuff you should be able to sell I would think.

We do like to hard, especially since the yards are getting crushed!
