My car has been stalling once in a while (440/thermoquad). Yesterday it killed and the fuel filter was empty, then it stalled again later in the day and the filter was full but it still wouldn't start. I let it set for 1/2 an hour and it started right up again. Is the fuel filter supposed to be all the way full? Mine is hard with pressure yet today so it must have good fuel pressure. Any idea what may be wrong?

The fuel filter in my car is not always full. It seems strange but it's normal.

Sounds like ignition problem. Temperature related failure of ignition module or pickup coil.
The OEM fuel filters were metal cases so we couldn't see the air bubble. They were once mounted vertically beside the timing cover so the air bubble did find its way out but it doesn't hurt anything.
