Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed) passes at 76

Ah, too young. He was having a bit of a resurgence in that Star Wars thing and some commercials. RIP Carl, always the best "bad guy/good guy" Apollo Creed.
 
RIP Carl... I Enjoyed watching him in many roles through the years..
 
That's to bad. Gave Rocky all he could handle, and them some.

I have two feral kittens I just saved and brought inside. Two brothers. I named one Apollo and the other Creed.

Many already knew that Apollo Creed was modeled after Muhamad Ali but many don't know Stallone wanted Apollo to have the Ken Norton physique. So much so he had Ken audition for the part. But Kens a boxer and Stallone was worried Norton would actually be dangerous to film scenes with. So, Wethers got the role. Apollo Creed was arrogant and loud mouthed (and a great fighter) like Ali- but had a lean chiseled physique like Kenny Norton.
 
Carl Weathers was featured with Rob Gronkowski in a FanDuel commercial for the 2024 Super Bowl. I just read that FanDuel is modifying the ad campaign following his untimely passing.
