Centerlink removal

A pickle fork will likely destroy the boot. You can buy a small joint puller from Harbor Freight or better tool sellers.........
 
Loosen the nut, then smack the side of the center link with a big hammer, at least 2 pounder; the ends will fall out, and boot saved.
 
if you do damage the boots on the ball joint or the tie rods...they can be replaced...
 
If there's room,I like to use a two jaw puller on the tie rod ends and idler/pitman arms as it does'nt tear the boot and less chance of inadvertently hitting something you did'nt want to when swinging a big hammer around.
If you tighten the bolt on the puller real tight and it does'nt move,just give the link a tap where the puller is with a regular sized hammer and it should pop.
