Nothing...they are the same...the Commando diffs are mostly internal to the engine...pistons, camshaft, etc...

valve springs have different pressures between regular and commando. both are a single spring, no dampners

defiantly new valve springs
340 springs are inexpensive and have a dampner to -well- dampen spring surge
beehives might be better
springs have come a long way in 50 years
