Competition Products Cylinder Heads??

-
I see Competition Products has some cylinder heads for Mopar. They are also Howard's Cams manufacturer. I wonder if they are any good. Anyone try them???

Great price, In comparison they're the same as any other standard port aluminum bbm head. 1 thing to always think about is why are they cheap ?
If the reason why they're cheap doesn't bug you then roll with them. Usually it's seat materials, valves & cheap valve springs. The castings are probably as good as any.
I have not tried them.

Looks like the same casting that’s been offered thru SM, Sidewinder, Promaxx, Performance world, Bruce Toth……to name a few.

The visual clue is the thicker than usual divider wall between each pair of intake ports.

The castings are fine, but they don’t flow 300 on the intake side as cast.
It takes some work to get them there.

The nice thing is Competition Products is just up the road from me and they have them in stock. I was asking for a friend who is building a mild 383.

Maybe?

That would be different.

I’ve done about 1/2 a dozen sets of heads “that look just like those”……..my recollection is they were in the 83-85cc range after recutting the seats.

Has anyone used these heads? Power Products, Chrysler BB Aluminum Head, 210cc/70cc, Assembled, Hydraulic Roller, Pair-Competition Products

I am building a 400 on a budget (so did not 0 deck). I am interested in these because the price and because they have 70cc combustion chambers. I’d really like to hear feedback from any actual users of these. I can find nothing on them. This thread comes up first in a google search. Thanks.
In the description it says, the exhaust port is raised .300 , that's interesting with standard intake ports. I have never seen a set of these in person, you might want to give cp a call.
Good price though

I’d be very surprised if all the data for those heads is correct.

Particularly the chamber volume, .300 raised exhaust, and flow numbers.

They “look” just like the other Steven Sun castings(ProMaxx, Sidewinder, Toth Performance, Performance World, and for a short while Speedmaster had them too).

After seeing a pic of the exhaust side of the head, they don’t look exactly like the Steven Sun heads I’ve had in the shop.
Maybe they tweaked the castings……

However, this def doesn’t look like it’s 70cc-

The current SM offering(265cc intake runner) is a copy of the Ede Victor head, which has raised runners and uses offset intake rockers.

It’s a different head than what’s being discussed in this thread.

The Ede 5090 are a 75cc chamber “rpm” style head.

A very poor choice for a mild or even a mid- level 400 build.
The Trick Flow with a 78cc chamber would be a better bet and on the budget side the Edelbrock 75cc 5090 head.
Trickflows chamber is really good.
