When I click on to this site and sometimes others,
I get redirected to: pagead2.googlesyndication.com
and ads.shoppingads.com before landing at the requested site.
Is there a way to stop this, it slows my computer to a crawl.

If I use my Foxfire program this problem disappears.
Anybody have an explaination or fix?
Thanks,
Longarm

Guess it's doing that on Internet Exploder? That's why I use Firefox almost exclusively. BUGS!

Most likely your computer is infected with spyware. There are several different software that are effective in removing it. I use Spysweeper and also Spybot .

I am sure someone more computer savy than us will chime in.

Same here. But what you're seeing aren't bugs or malware, they're click-through ads on FABO. Now, keep in mind that those same ads DO bring in revenue for FABO (right, Adam?)
But, if it's killin' ya, try this:
If you haven't already, download and install Firefox.
Get the AdBlockerPro program add-in for Firefox.
Add pagead2.googlesyndication.com and ads.shoppingads.com to the filter.
All better :)

Ya got a hyjacker working in the back ground. Go buy Webroot Spy Sweeper, it works great and gets rid of all Spyware especially tracking cookies that can monitor your passwords and other things. I've been using it for 8 yrs and it's up to 285,000 threats (when I started using it was 35,000). Updates automatically and progammable sweeps. The thing I really like is it controls the programs that start when you push the go button and commonly slow down the computer start time. Programs like Quick time and Adobe that don't need to start until you use them.

Thanks guys .
I use Spybot 1.6 and Symantec Antivirus both up to date.
Nothing seems to help, I've even Googled for a fix or work
around, no help.
Can't seem to find a cure.
It sure slows things down to dialup speeds.
Makes reading this site almost painful.

I think Demon Seed is right. It sounds just like what mine was doing when it had a Hi-jacker. Norton quarantined it but it still continued to work. I found some info on microsoft on how to remove it and I did what it said and it worked.

I just downloaded Firefox a few days ago and it's screams like a Mopar and is very stable. Don't care to ever use IE again.

Longarm, I had both Spybot and Webroot on my old company computer and Webroot found stuff that Spybot missed, also Norton-Symantec has adware spyware protection built in but again doesn't come close. Try this, you can download a "free" adware-spyware program from Lavasoft that's industry recognised as one of the best and let it do a scan and see what it can find. I used to have Ad-Aware 6.0 (Lavasoft) on my home computer as a backup to Webroot. http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-20...=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5&cdlPid=10844457

Oh ya, spyware running in the background on your computer will slow it down to a crawl, I've been there.

I almost forgot, if you do load Ad-Aware let it do a update check before you tell it to scan also you may get an alarm from Norton saying it doesn't recognise the program and it's trying to access the internet. Instruct Norton to "always allow". Good luck.

Thank you for all the help!
I downloaded AdAware and ran the program.
It found a total of 80 problems - 79 cookies - 1 program.
I cleared everything - It helped, I still get the redirect on
this site but it only show car related products in the sidebar.
It is a little faster and no more womans undies and bras for sale.
Thanks again for the help.
Carl

P.S.
I had to load the program twice.
The first attempt the program was not digitally signed by Lavasoft
so I deleted it unopened.
You could tell something wierd was going on during the first attempt as
the download was redirected all over the place.
The second attempt I went to www. downloads. com site through
www. komando.com .and all went smoothly.
Her site also has some good info.

Sounds like you're going in the right direction Carl, just a side note though, the free version of Ad-Aware does not update or scan automatically, you have to do both manually but you probably already knew that.
