I have a 1971 Duster Twister with 318, 904 and 7 1/4. I want to go stroker small block, manual trans and 8 3/4. I have acquired an 8 3/4 housing.

This car is to have fun not make pretty.

I have the opportunity to buy a manual pedal set locally. Can you help me identify it as A body? Is $250 too much? Should I just go with a hydraulic clutch pedal?

I don't care about gas mileage so a 4 speed option seems OK with me.

I don't mind modding this car. I have lifts, welders etc.

one benefit to going hydro is that you don't have to worry about sourcing the correct Z bar and you can run pretty much whatever bellhousing you want that fits (within reason)

however, for your application tons of bell/z combos are out there and easily obtainable. so it's really just weighing the cost of the hydro setup.

250 is too much for what I see there, and if the seller cannot confirm what it came out of, I'd stay away. The only alternative I'd see is a "money back" deal if you have your car apart enough you can test fit it. WHAT KIND OF SELLER does not know WTF he has?

If I live long enough to go stick, and my legs get worse, hydraulic. If you can fab, a bracket, you can mount certain remote reservoir masters don on the firewall at an angle to mimick the OEM pushrod. Then use your choice of an external slave (me) or a hydraulic TO setup (expensive)

It looks like an A-body set of pedals to me. You can look at Brewers Performance, they have pictures of all the Mopar pedal sets. Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

The A-body assembly is pretty unique with how close together the pedal levers are to each other in the middle. Based on the brake pedal lever shape they could be '75/76, although that brake pedal seems to be tweaked a bit.

I have to agree with @j par , $200-$250 is a fairly average price point for non-internet sales. You can see that the professionally reconditioned A-body pedal assemblies go for $499 at Brewers. Heck even the reproduction conversion pedal sets start at $329. And on eBay you'll see pedals sets in similar condition listed for over $300. Like this very similar looking set... Sorry the seller does state it is an A body pedal set but I don't have the experience to take his word for it. I only owned one other a body with a clutch pedal and it was never removed so I couldn't tell from looking at it.

There was an article in the tech pages at BBD which I don't have the link that you can covert to hydraulic with a dodge pickup set up. There are probably better ways now.

It looks like an A body pedal set. $250 is the going rate for a clean set, that one looks a little crusty, not an issue, but would need some cleaning up.

I went hydraulic on mine when I did the conversion a few months ago. The kit needed some tweaking to work correctly, but everything worked out fine.

I ended up buying it. Yes it did look a little crusty but the bushings seem intact and the pedals rotate nice. All the switches are there and the brackets. I don't find stuff like this 1/2 hour from my home so I didn't want to pass it up.

If you choose to go the hydraulic route. I would recommend going with Malwood kit You would use your manual trans factory pedal bracket and brake pedal. The kits are a little on the pricey side ($625) Plus the cost of a hydraulic bearing. But these work very well low pedal effort and relatively simple install when changing over to a manual trans in an auto car. I’m currently using 3 of their kits.
