Convertible Speaker locations

"Imitation is the sincerest of flattery." Although I do make and sell the laser-cut dual-speaker brackets like the one you "copied", I must say your installation is very nice and clean - good for you. Most of the folks who buy my brackets do so because, unlike you, they often don't have the material, tools, or shop space to make their own. Just don't get any ideas...

10-4!!!!!! Even with the materials and tools it was a challenge .

Time to resurrect this thread. When I bought my Dart 'vert the factory AM radio didn't work. I left the original radio in the dash and mounted a Secret Audio under the passenger seat and installed some aftermarket speakers.

The front speakers are Pioneer 4x6" mounted in the typical aftermarket kick panels. The pictures should show that the kick panels are overly shiny and there is no smooth section at the bottom of the panel as was on my original '69 dart panels. The shine issue will be remedied by re-dying the panels with a duller black.

The rear enclosures are custom built. They fit Pioneer 5x7" speakers. They are mounted solid so they aren't easily removable. They are made so that they follow the curvature of the seat. They are designed so that you can sit in the back seat and will never know they are there-when your legs compress the seat bottom you never touch the speaker boxes. If I would have used 6x9"s they would have been taller and could hit the backs of the rear passenger's legs.

How does it sound? No, it doesn't thump with bass. Typically 'verts won't ever have thumping bass. Most music sounds really good and it is more than loud enough to sound good while cruising with the top down. Since the speakers are basically near your knees and right behind the front seats the sound is all around you.

It's not the ideal hard rockin' stereo with big power and subs but as this thread shows- there aren't many off the shelf options for these cars that sound good.
