I have been kicking around the idea of converting a 68 notchback, to a convertible and was wondering what allparts and pieces would I need to make this transformation?
Has anyone attempted a task like this, if so please come pics and insight would very much be appreciated
Thanks aaron

I think you would need a doner car, rusted out or what ever. There is to much metal changes from the notchback to a convertible to make it work, for me anyway.
I have never attempted it ever though.

TON of sheet metal work and a donor car, and parts. Sun roof would be easier.

The short list....
The steel or a substitute that is in the rockers... (big deal here)
Wheel wells
Mounting for the pump
Front windshield pillar set up
Dutchman panel
Pump, hydraulic cylinders and hoses
The elusive switch for the pump and the wiring harness
Complete top mechanism
Interior panels
Rear seat and the correct upholstery for it
Trim that the boot snaps on
Part that the top staples on (can't think of the correct name of it)
Windshield moldings inside and outside
Convertible top latches
Convertible only windshield gasket
Quarter glasses
Convertible well liner
Convertible boot
And a whole lot more.....

If you had to buy all these pieces separately it would cost more than buying a decent restorable convertible to build. If you were going to try it using you notch as a base then you would need a parts car.

The car in question already needs a ton of sheetmetal work anywise so it's not to big of a deal..

The differences start at the firewall and end at the trunk floor. Best way to acquire all the convertible parts needed is buy a convertible.
To buy all the parts individually would cost more than a new Challenger.
