So Im looking for the proper positioning for the blackout on a 70 Swinger hood, specifically does it run from high edge to high edge of the body lines of the hood? Ive seen some people run along the inside of the lines, and some people running (what appear to be) a 1/4" matching stripe beside it. Im pretty sure the correct way is along the high edge of the body line and continue up on the cowl, with no secondary stripe, but I just want to verify. Any pictures of factory would be an asset!
Thanks FABO :)

right on the top break of the body lines, all the way up the hood and across the cowl to the edge of the windshield (properly remove the bottom trim for the windshield and paint to the edge of the windshield gasket so when the trim is in place no white shows). getting it taped right on the crown is not easy so some make it easier by cutting it off on the inside edge, but it isn't as intended. I can send the factory assembly guide diagram and instructions if you really want them.

I painted mine gloss black - it isn't a stock car and gloss is a lot easier to take care of.

Thanks for the info! Thats what I figured, I just wanted to make sure. If you dont mind, Id like to have a copy of that diagram and instructions, it would be cool to have. And great looking car, the gloss black looks really good on there too :)

here you go - see diagram on left top for break on hood line and right side second down for cowl break (remember they were painted with no windshield installed). What you might be seeing with the blackout toward the middle is the blackout for a 1971 Demon since there was no blackout twin scoop hood in 1971 for a Dart some guys with 1971 Darts use that pattern when they use a twin scoop hood.

Oh my lord that is a beautiful car!

I'm getting ready to add twin scoops to my white '72 swinger, and I have never figured out, are they supposed to be black or body color, or black with hood blackout, or does it change from year to year? Luckily I've got a flat hood if I don't like the scoops but that blackout.... Whew, spicy!

I've debated a bumblebee stripe in olive green to match my vinyl top (those damn red reflectors with no bezels are why bee stripes look crappy on '72 and later), but seeing yours has me thinking about an olive green 'blackout' hood to match.

I love that idea - does yours have a green interior to go with it? Swinger or Custom? The white Dart in the picture came from the factory with that dark green vinyl top.

@str12-340 Thank you for that pic, is it out of the Faxon "1970 Mopar Service Highlights Training Manual"? Love that underhood pic too by the way, very nice!! That cross ram looks wicked bad on her
After seeing your car, and @1971 CY Dodge Dart car with the gloss black hood blackout, thats really starting to grow on me as well, my car isnt a stock resto either, and I may just go that way, easier for my painter as well :) And that means that I would have to change my wing from matte to gloss black as well. And leaving the scoops body color looks great too. Ive got alot to think about now!!
Any opinions? Gloss blackout on the hood and gloss wing??

Thank you, what's prettiest is what's under the scoops

Heck yeah. I love how that motor looks. And I never wouldda thought the gloss black on the hood wouldda looked as good as it does. That's the first time I've seen a picture of the whole car. I think you and @Johnny Dart went to the same under hood detailing school. Yall come do mine. lol

Faxon's 1970-1971 Plymouth Valiant & Dodge Dart Electrical & Body Assembly Manual

It includes Duster and Demon. Lots of great and useful information.

#DartGTDan has a really nice gold Dart with the gloss black treatment that I find particularly beautiful
