What is the correct positioning of the oil filter adaptor? I have an aluminum one i grabbed off a chrysler fifth avenue. I will be running 1968 340 hi performance exhaust manifolds.

Anybody have a good picture they can post of this showing the clocking of the adaptor housing to the block.

Thanks
Matt

the filter points down and rearward. what I would do when the time comes and the manifolds are in place is to mock it up in place dry with the filter just to confirm the exact best clocking that will let you easily remove the filter at future oil changes then I would glue/cement the large circular gasket in place on the block with Permatex 99MA "high tack" the red spray stuff on both sides of it then raise the adapter/bolt and bolt it up into place being carefull not to rotate it is that hurts the gasket seal & be sure the gasket stays in place as you are raising it up & the 99MA is VG for this as it is extremely tacky. As you know the thick cork gasket goes on the inside of the concave cover on the bolt & you might use a very light amt of sealer on that gasket and a more generous amt on the thinner gasket under the bolt head. 50ft lbs on the bolt. You can deburr the sharp edges inside the adapter as desired as it is restrictive & open up the bolt shank also. EDIT First make sure the block circular recess is squeaky clean with no gasket residue
